My Mustang Adventures 2011

I'm from Madeira Beach. I'd love to hook up and see your ride. I've got a 67 with a 302 that I'm putting a blower on, but I also have a 351 and would like to see how much clearance there is for that.

Neat...my family all live in St.Pete Beach area so i am down that way a lot. I will let you know next time I am heading that way. They have a cars and coffee in the Largo area...maybe we can take the stangs there and meet up?

I re-valved my new saginaw pump to the 1000psi specs and hooked it up to the factory power steering. Also mounted the AC compressor bracket, you can see the red wire I used to test basic belt alignment.

Also finalized most the fuel system. I am waiting on some AN fittings from Summit and then my fuel system should be complete.

A lot of the loose ends are really coming together now. I think if I get a chance to put some solid hours in again this week the car should be ready for a test start by the end of the month! Fingers crossed! :nice:

Looking good!

What brand is that transformers logo'd dynamat?

Thanks,

It is FatMat, you can get 100sqft for about $150. Way more cost affective than Dynamat...I doubled it up where my longtubes sit under the front floor boards (they heat up the floors) and also where the mufflers will sit under the back seat area.

just a quick update, I have been finalizing a lot of little things on the car. There is not too much that pictures would show right now, but I will post some after the weekend.

I have finished up the fuel system, completed the belt drive setup (minus AC compressor) at this point I just have to jump back into the electrical and wire up the last few things and add fluids and I should be good to fire her up :D I would guess I am 2 weeks away from trying to start her!

Just a quick follow up...My MSD 6BTM box is showing up tomorrow. This is the last piece of the puzzle I have been waiting for to get the car running.

I spent most of last weekend messing with the electrics on the car and got everything to come alive (other than my radio, I think its died :/) My goal is to have the 408 running by next Friday! I will post pictures and video once I get to this point. Its a great feeling seeing the car finally come to life.

I have a question about the ignition controller, why did you get with the MSD 6BTM as opposed to a 6A or 6AL? What is the benefit?

My set up will be a lot like yours, 408W with a 5-speed. Thanks for your help.

I was Running the 6A before when I had my 408 in the coupe. When I originally built the 408w I had intended to boost it. Now a few years later and in a fastback I really want to add boost. The MSD 6BTM allows you to retard your timing as boost comes on. I am really going for this setup so the car will be more tuneable once I add the supercharger.

I also am running a return style fuel system with a boost reference fuel pressure regulator for the same reason. As boost comes on the regulator will increase fuel pressure by 1psi per certian increase in boost.

I wanted to build the car right so I can literally bolt on a Novi2000 and a blow through carb and be good to go (after some tuning).

If you are running a NA 408w I am sure the MSD 6A or 6AL would work just fine.

Looks good man. You made quick work of that coupe.

Thanks!

My brother and I swapped the entire powertrain over and had it running in just 2 weeks. I was pretty impressed with the swap.

The fastback has taken a little more time...but the end result will be worth it. Its nice knowing I am days away from hearing it run insteady of months!

Finally decided to install my steering wheel.

Also modified factory (non AC ) console to fit with my Classic Auto Air AC unit. I still have some ducting work to do on the AC but the console fits nice. Also have to modify a few parts to keep the Pro 5.0 shifter nice and hidden under the console.:p

ok so a successful weekend last weekend. Managed to fire the car up...open headers of course...but the trust 408 sprung to life after a 7 month slumber without any issues. I have posted a junky cell phone video that my friend took to capture the moment.

Also got most the interior back together. My seats come back from the upholstery shop today. Things are so close now! Just need to bleed the brakes, anf clutch and add my catback!

Stay tuned!

The car looks better and better each time I check the thread. For some reason the linked video is not working. This Mustang Adventures thread is motivational for those of us lagging on our projects, thanks.

thanks for the kind words...just waiting on my Magnaflow catback to show up...I got my seats back from the uphostery shop last week. I just need to clean up the tracks and install them. I think I am pretty much done after that. It has been a huge push to finish the car, but I told myself when I got it that I have to have it completed in 2011. Its going to be close....

So car is running I had the 3 inch magnaflow system welded up and it sounds great! The car is more mellow on idle than before.I am still working out some of the bugs with everything, I am having an issue bleeding the brakes..there is a bunch of air trapped somewhere and I cant seem to shift it..the other issue I am running into is my MSD box, it seems to make a whitlsing sound after a few minutes of running then it seems to over heat after about 15 minutes and shut off. I have been doing research on this but so far no luck!

Here's a video:

Anyway, here are some pictures I snapped yesterday. I hadnt washed the car yet but she still looks pretty good. Let me know what you think.
