.....her Volvo is on it's last 'leg' - ...the 07'mustang GT just sits in the garage - with no miles on it - to her, it's just a new car - she stated she would take the exact same mustang (but an auto) same color - w/out all of the 'do-dad's' as she calls them - exhaust etc ....instead - but then I'll have (2) two of pretty much the same car - like exactly the same ...I was holding out for the 2014 for her ...(hopefully FoMoCo will get there 'act' together for the design) - but? ....after the rear end design of the 10's / 11's....I'm not very confident - so

A.) I can spend alot of money on parts and time - and keep the volvo going i.e frt brakes - new pads and rotors (actually 'hubs') = $295.00 parts only - keep it going till 2013 - wait for the 2014 mustang.

B.) Just buy another 05-09 mustang gt coupe for her - try and talk her into at least, a diff color.

C.) Just de-tune the mustang we have now (brace for door dings, scratches and curb rash) and I'll wait for the 2014 mustang - and if it looks 'goofy' - there's always the 01' bullitt or 04'/96 mystic I always wanted - or I can get the vert 05'-09' that I always thought, I should of got instead of the coupe we have now - (she hates verts)

I know... it's like I'm 'crying w/two loaf's of bread under each arm' - but I bought that 07' new - drove a POS work car to work everyday to 'keep' the miles off of it - stored it in the winters - etc etc - but how often does anyone get a wife who wants a Mustang?

This is a 'no brainer'. You already know what to do but I'll say it for you anyway.

Fix the Volvo. $295 is cheap Cheap CHEAP to what you'd spend otherwise. Sell it and get her what she wants when the 07 is paid for.

For a second there I thought you were saying the wife wanted to DD your mustang... if that were the case I'd respond with "I'd like a BJ every morning and every day right before bedtime" :D

Generally foreign cars are a bear to maintain due to the cost of parts. Some aren't as bad as others, but it seems like the european car companies are the worst. If it were me, I'd spring for an 05-09 auto Mustang GT. They can be purchased for decent prices these days and the 3V 4.6 is a great powerplant IMO.

The Volvo needs a lot more than that ( I didin't want to bore everyone) needs a set of tires ($375) - the brakes / $295 sure - but there's a tiny heater core leak that has fried the main computer / leaves anti freeze in the footwell / so no heat can be turned on - a new 'brain' junk yard alone is probably $250++ - plus I'd have to pull it - and then figure out how to install program it  which I don't know ....the dealer is $1,800 for the new computer alone + install /program ($2,800 est total ) - every idiot light is on ( it will not pass emissions / so no new plate sticker ) - I had to "hard' wire the head lights so they would even go on - there's a main seal oil leak - a fuel pump leak (new fuel pump $495 part only) - plus the black paint is peeling - I've already addressed this - started the body work so it's not 'such' an embarrassment for her to drive - blk primer in key spots / black car - I paid $5k for this car 4yrs ago - just something for her to get started with - get around town - the 07' is paid off - hence why she wants it - no new car payment -

I know - but having (2) two cars the exact same color, year, make and model - she won't even budge on the rims (have to be the same ) - although she wants stripes / hood scoop / and side window scoops/vents...

Let her drive the '07, then you can buy yourself a 2014 when they come out.
Yeah.... that would be the best of 'both' worlds - but she's the one 'due' for a new car if we get one - and she's not very excited about having to drive the 07 with a stick - (she even asked if I could 'throw' an automatic in it for a while :() - I said I'd rather just buy her another GT w/an auto - plus we are 'short' on space - we have a two car garage - I have a 93 coupe project on a body cart - and the 07 nxt to it - her car and my work car 'sit' out front - working on the project car - it's like a Chinese 'fire drill' moving cars - if we buy a new one - that would have to sit inside - my 07 goes outside - (car cover?) - but we have a nazi HOA - no projects in your driveway / no parking on the street -

At first I was going to say A and B. Fix the Volvo and get another 05-09 GT. A few hundred for the Volvo and 12-15k for a nice GT. Then I read the other post where the Volvo needs a bunch of work. Now I'm thinking get another Volvo? Decisions, decisions.! I have a 95 F-150 that I've had for 16 years and can't figure out what to do with it. It's all original with new tires, brakes, and still has cold AC but I just don't have the room.

Well - I have technically fixed the volvo - I fixed the bodywork - actaully came out looking good / decent - the brakes are so so (we bleed them) but good enough - she drives 5 miles under the limit - found a great set of used tires (look / feel new) - for dirt cheap - so nows she's pretty happy - it's not so embarrassing for her to drive - plus the sticker on the plate is good till the end of June - and with the new tires - drives nice and smooth - all of the idiot lights are still on - but they have always been on - so she's all good - ironically - I've always liked the 2010 fusions - w/the honeycomb wheels - and the rental companies have sold a bunch of them at auction - there's a dealer here locally who dumps them for little over what he picks them up for at the auction - so it looks like I maybe upgrading my work car 1st - going to look this Saturday

The volvo is fixed - and she seems happy with that for now.....I hope that Ford does good for the 2014 mustang (not like the total F-up on the rear design of the 10's and 11's) - who knows - if they decide not to 'keep' it such a secret (hopefully a concept car will come out ) - then we will hold out for that ....

Well I think the redesign is the 50th annvi bubba - and that's the 2014....we should see a concept in early 2013
Ford's new 2014 Mustang will celebrate Mustang's 50th anniversary 09/21/2011

Ford will be celebrating the 50th anniversary of its iconic Mustang in 2014, and the company will debut a redesigned car for the occasion. The current generation of Mustangs are designed to be reminiscent of past generations, but the 2014 model will be anything but traditional. Ford's design chief, J Mays recently revealed a bit about the new car in an interview with Automotive news.

"The challenge or the opportunity for 2014 with a 50th-anniversary car is to not just look back over your shoulder, but to try to win all of the Mustang faithful yet to bring the brand forward as well," Mays told the publication. "It has to look like a Mustang, but you go down a list of things that might or might not be necessary to make the car look like a Mustang."

The first Mustang rolled off the production line on March 9, 1964 and by the end of the first day that the car went on sale, Ford sold 22,000 of the new car, according to Motor Trend. Nearly 1.3 million cars were built in the first three years of production, and the nationwide love of Mustangs has continued to grow.

Motor Trend also reports that the new 2014 model will be made available in Europe for the first time ever, and the Ford's European and Australian teams will be helping out with the design of the new car. Not only will the 2014 Mustang take the classic American sports car from an old look to a new one, but it will bring the vehicle to a global platform as well. -

That's a good choice - but I think we will try and hold out for the 2014 - if it looks like euro trash or some werid 'take' on a mustang - then option B will be it ....

let her drive the 07, in reality its just a car. i let my wife take mine anywhere any time, if she smashes it up thats what i have insurance for. she is your wife, its a car. dont get me wrong i baby my car and all but it is ultimatly just a car. maybe if it were a shelby or special edition i would be a little more hesitant and try to keep the miles down but mustang GTs are everywhere.

Can't help it - I've had it since new - maybe I have OCD - but there's not a scratch on it - and not (1) one door ding - looks like it just rolled off of the showroom floor 298632_2067042687887_1599416733_31708684_2044146231_n.jpg

- If she did want to drive it full time - I would have to de-tune it / take the exhuast off of it etc ....which I would do, if it was to be her full time car - but since I have too much time and energy in it and fixed her volvo / I think I'm just gonna keep it - If Ford doesn't screw up the design of the new 2014/15 - that will be her new car - then technically - I'll have the best of both worlds - it will be an auto / but new -
