First off the connector is in the engine bay on the driver's side by the starter relay however the harness is routed inside the driver fender well so I can't pinpoint the exact location. The connector has 2 wires coming out of it; one is black with a green line and the other is black with a yellow or white line. It's not the black and green wire that is one of the ECU grounds. Please help me track down what this goes to. It's on an 1988 notch I'm putting together.

2 wires/2 pins...... Not TPS, that's hooked up and I believe it's 3 wires. Also isn't the water temp connector female and the sensor itself male? This connector is a 2 pin male and located on the harness by the starter relay along the driver's side fender apron.

cant be the tps, one of those wires are orange, im going to guess the water temp.

Nope, it's located by the starter relay. I'm familiar with all the basic sensor but this one is throwing me off. It's probably something like wiper fluid sensor but I believe that's a 2 pin gray connector. Not knowing is gonna drive me crazy. I even went to Pick N Pull earlier but both former V8 88-89 mustangs out there had most their harnesses cut off.

I believe this is your connector...

... and this is what it connects to. The Air Conditioning Clutch harness on the engine.

Hope that helps.
