i just bought a 96 gt with a 5 speed, stock 4.6 cold air, headers, magnaflow with roush exhaust out the sides, tired of getting beat by crappy cars, trying to build motor to support a decent turbo or supercharger and run min boost 10 to 12 lbs nothing to crazy just dont know alot about 4.6 motors, always had 5.0 any suggestions would be appreciated????

If you keep the boost to 10-psi or below, use a charge cooler ("intercooler") and run a conservative tune you needn't do anything in the engine itself. With the NPI heads expect ca. 325rwHP at that sort of boost. If you swap in a set of PI heads, cams and intake you can expect more like 400rwHP on stock internals.

Is it possible to run a supercharger on a PI Setup with stock internals? I have done one on my car and it has been bored 0.020". Going to be running a compression ratio of ~10.85:1. Will stock internals support a blower?

10.85:1 is awfully high for F/I on 2V heads. Lots of people (myself included) run stock internals on PI engines and make 400+ HP at the wheels but that's with the stock compression ratio.

If you can keep it from detonating and hurting the pistons you should still be able to run up around 400-450 rwHP but it'll be on the edge...

You are not going to be able to run a lot of boost without running into detonation, maybe 8 psi max. With the 10.85 cr, 8 psi should get you over the 400 mark.

What kind of pistons did you use when you did your rebuild? What rods did you use?

Yea I figured it wouldn't be a lot of boost if I did do F/I and that it would be around 5-8 psi. When I did the build I put stock 96 GT pistons in it with the stock 96 GT rods. Now they are 0.020 oversized. But as far as the dish and everything it is stock. The rods were not changed. The pistons are new stock replacements that are 0.020 oversized.

Trinity, how are you running stock compression ratio on a PI swap?

On my stock motor at the time I had a p1sc procharger and made 440rwhp on 11psi and blew it up 3 months out of the shop biggest waste of 10k that lasted 3 months lol

What the hell cost 10k? My whipple blower/manifold with all the goodies wouldnt cost 10k. Either you got ripped hard (and consitering it blew up....Im leaning that way) or just bought some really overpriced stuff.

I bought everything at once including my procharger with all the goodies gauges new clutch tires and labor so about 10k I should of included that on my original post

I'm in the same club, bro. At least I got about 18,000 miles out of my original motor until I blew her up with my Paxton 2000, lol.
at least u got 18000 mine at the time and still is today not a daily driver but I ran mine hard street racing and grabbing gears real hard to feel the power and see what I could beat on the streets

Yeah, my '03 is also not a daily driver. It's a 'Vert with 70,000 on her, only 17,000 on her since the new motor went in almost 5 years ago. I think blowing the stock motor made me a little gun shy, even though I now have a Cobra shortblock and all forged internals. This is gonna sound crazy, but I STILL have the original clutch in her; that should give you some idea on how easy I am on her. And I do run her at the strip occasionally, and run her up to 150+ mph a couple of times, with the top down. That is some hairy S*** being out in the open at that speed. Believe it or not, she has never been in the rain in 9 years this April when I bought he new in 2003. I have a lightbar and a Saleen Hard Tonneau Cover on her, so there is no way to put the top up if I am out cruising and get caught in the rain. That happened twice; but I saw the rain coming and beat it home; just got nailed by rain a few minutes each time. I did feel like an A-Hole sitting at a red light with the top down in the pouring rain, though!

Sounds like you are easy on her since mine recently came out of the shop back in November I only put 200 miles on it since I had the motor fully rebuilt trans and rear end my car has 43,000 total miles since I had it back in 04 all if my internals are forged over to. yeah when they call for bad weather or anything my car just sits in the garage it's only been rained on once and I hated it :(
