This morning I turned the heater on and hit the recirculate button (gotta keep that new car smell...) and noticed that it had turned off (recirculate). Hit it again and made sure to observe the time. It turns off after 5 minutes. I found an article for a Tacoma and it looks like if you hold the button for a few seconds recirculate will stay on. I looked through the manual but didnt find anything like this. Anyone know if there is a trick to keep it on?

Well, I want able to find anything that worked to keep recirculate on while using the heater (stays on just fine with the a/c). Did run into another issue this morning though; with the heater on and selected the vents at your feet, I would get a split between defrost and foot even though I only had foot selected at the control panel. Is that normal as well?

It will only work with the AC on, it helps the AC cool the car better and not work so hard on hot humid days.
I'm well aware of how it functions, just seems weird that it will only stay on for 5 minutes with the heater on (just like the a/c, it heats up quicker when you recirculate the air). Biggest reason I use it is because some areas are stinky out here on the way to work. The last two days I've remembered to turn it on in that spot.
My car blows out the defrost when you have just feet selected also. It might be common but its not normal
As for the recirculation, if your running the heat and recirculation for too long you will probably start fogging up the windows

No clue as to why the recirculation is working that way.
According to the Ford Workshop Manual for the 2007 Mustang, if the FLOOR mode is selected, a small amount of air will come out of the defrost and side demister vents. If the DEFROST mode is selected, a small amount of air will come out of the floor vents. Go figure.

Consistent with the 2012 too. If you select defrost it blows considerably harder from the defrost vents.
I dont mind that it does it, what sucks is that if i have it set to floor and turn the fan past 2 then i get a loud air noise from the defrost vents
