hey guys I was wondering if anybody has puchased, and are using Anderson motorsports vortech stage 1 or 2 kits. These kits seem to be a great deal for the cost but I have a few concerns. The kits comes pullied for 12 to 15lbs boost and a fmu for 38 lb injectors so I was wondering how streetable that kind of boost is. also is there anything else I need to know to run this kit. is the fmu supplied really nessecary, things like that. I am new to forums but have gained valuable information over the past year on my current build from you guys so I value any help you can give me.

My car is a 1990 gt 5.0 and has the basic bolt ons like 65 mm tb, pro m 77 mass air 24lb injectors, trick flow intake, shorty equal length headers, H pipe, flowmaster 40s, ford E cam, 1.6 rockers, underdrive pullies, a/c delete, mishimoto alu radiator black magic fan, msd ignition, tremec t-5, 373 gears.

I'm not a fan of FMU's personally. Some people will feel otherwise, but I don't like them. I can tell you though, I had 14lbs of boost with my s-trim and it maxed out my 42lb injectors and fuel system. My PMS was showing 98% duty cycle at 5800 rpms. 12-15lbs is definitely streetable, but depending on your heads, cam, and intake, you will be making some good power (475rwhp+) and your stock block will become a concern.

The AFM kits are priced very nicely though. I've considered their YSi kit in the past.

I can't think of a single reason why someone would purchase a kit that COMES with undersized injectors and an FMU.

I think FMUs are handy if you're adding boost and don't want to front the cost of new injectors and tune right away but to buy a kit with those kinds of items doesn't make sense to me. I'd call them up and see if you can get a set of 42s with the kit then find and schedule yourself some dyno and tune time at a location near you.

I believe FMU's are only ok if your 8psi or less on a mostly stock motor. Just for reference I had a BD-11a making only 7psi, and on my basic bolt on, stock longblock, full weight vert I was running 13.0's at 110.

I agree with you on the fmu that's why I was really considering the stage 2 kit that comes with the PMS for $3700 which again seems like a good price for what you get. I'm glad you mentioned you have the PMS setup what is your opinion on its ease of use compared to ones like the tweecer
