9" rear for a 1970 mustang

hows it goin everyone... im looking to upgrade my rear to a 9"... does anyone know what vehicles would have one that would bolt right up to a 70 coupe easily or with little modifycation. also i would like to put a set of 373s in it do u know of a good place to pick one up... and finally the rear thats in it now is an 8inch with 279 gears... could that possibly be worth anything? thanks

Although I'm no expert, You should be able to use a 9" from any '68 - '70 cougar, and it should be a direct bolt in. It's possible that the more recent years would have the vent on the wrong side, but I'm not sure.... Maybe someone will chime in.

8" Value? Probably not much, But if you're planning on running the Stock type 9", your brakes, and axles will interchange, unless you're planning on running a 31 spline.

While the Fairlane/Cyclone rear is the correct overall width, the spring pads are farther apart than on Mustang/Cougar and will require relocation and the vent/brake hose mount is on the passenger side instead of driver side. These issues are fairly easy to overcome but should be known before attempting the swap.
