Hey guys,

Just installed a "new to me" frpp aluminum driveshaft and i kept on smelling tranny fluid. I looked under and voila, the d/s is leaking.

However its not the rear trans sealor bushing. The seal is nice and dry, seems like the fluid is leaking somewhere around u-joint.

Ideas on how to seal this up and elwhere's the leak coming from is what confuses me the most honestly...

*This is on a 94 cobra if it makes any difference with a T5 of course.

Most likely it is leaking at the seal, and accumulating at the U-joint. However, it is possible that the yolk has a defect and is leaking fluid. If it's leaking out the back of the yolk, you will need to have the yolk welded. Defects like this are extremely unusual.

Thats the thing, and thank you for the reply Kurt, but the yolk is totally dry around the seal and all the way down.

Its wet inside where the u joint 'holes' (if you wanna call it that) is. Its as if its leaking out the u-joint. I know its not but...

Where could it be leaking from around there?

Took the yoke off and sure enough it was leaking at the casting seem. I never thought this would be the case but it is.

I just cleaned up my original yolk, swapped it onto the aluminum d/s and done deal! No more leaking!

Thank you for the help Kurt!!!

No prob. Thanks for putting up the conclusion. That has to be one of the weirdest ones I've heard of. if you want to go back to the new yolk, it can be welded.
