95 Cobra: What's This Wire??

95 Cobra convertible: Noticed this wire today which is not connected to anything and I'm wondering what it's for. It's pretty big around (about the diameter of my thumb, including the black corrugated protective cover.) It comes up to about the middle the driver's side of the engine bay -- reaches about to where the power distribution / fuse box is under the hood. It is *not* long enough to reach the battery. From there, it runs down along the frame to about the rear tire area and then goes up into the rear/trunk area.

The strange thing is... everything works! At least I think so! :O / Convertible top works, lights work, radio amps work... what else is back there??

Posting a picture of the connector in the front (see attached file below). As you can see, it has a ring connection on it. I'm thinking maybe it goes on the starter solenoid??? Dunno.

Thanks for your help!

I thought that at first, but the wire is not long enough to reach the battery... and with that plastic cover on it, it couldn't connect well to a battery terminal anyway. Plus my car still has the Mach 460 system (amps, speaker, headunit) in place, so I don't think it was ever changed.

Maybe it won't reach the positive on the battery, but it may reach the hot lug on the power distribution box / engine compartment fuse box.

None of the factory wiring runs along the outside along the frame. Factory wiring from the engine bay runs into the body behind the fenders and along the left side of the body under the plastic covers just under the door. Additionally, nothing in the trunk area uses a wire that thick. As turbogt and civit250f said, it's a wire that a previous owner installed and never removed.
