What would you do with 5-6k?

So here in a few months I'll have some money to spend on my car, just looking for some useful suggestions other than nitrous. I'm not bashing or anything I would just rather not go that route. Now about the car...its pretty much stock except an o/r h and some flows. Not lowered or anything, not even an intake because I planned on going FI and figured it'd be changed anyway. A couple visual mods and that's it. By the way the car is a 02 gt manual that just ticked over 100k, oh yeah and some idiot decided to mod my bumper in a parking lot with some white paint and a nice big hole. Also I'm looking to make like 350-370hp to the wheels. Thanks guys!

Just me.....I would to a tork tech eaton build. That could easily be done for under 5k....including the extras that you need. If you wanted to splurge....then it would still be under 6k, possibly 400 rwhp and would still be completly streetable.

Start with a Tork Tech Terminator manifold. Search ebay, craigslist, a much of modular forum parts sites (pm me if you want a list of good places to get the stuff) for all the supporting stuff you need.......Cobra Eaton M112 blower (ported one would be nice), injectors, heat exchanger, heat exchanger pump, reservoir, BAP, throttle body, throttle cable, cruise cable, lightning IAT sensor. That is most of the stuff you need, and picking everything up used is the cheapest way to go....and it is a proven setup.

Manifold: 2k
blower: 500 (with throttle body and everything)
injectors: 150
heat exchanger: 300 (frozenboost.com w/ piping and pump)
reservoir: 50 (almost any type of small reservoir will work)
BAP: 150
cables: 100
IAT sensor: 20
Hood: 700 painted
dyno tune 500
CAI: 150
Lightning MAF: 100

This is about 4770....that leaves you 1200 to see how you want to do things. A ported eaton might cost you a little more, then add a bigger throttle body. You can do it for less than I typed, but I just pulled up stuff I could find in less than 5 minutes.

Oh, did I mention the appearance mod of either a cobra hood or a 2.5 or 3.5" cowl hood. Kaenan or HO Fibertrends hood would be perfect......

SuperCharger!! When I had my Paxton 2000 installed 4 years ago, it cost me $5,500. To some, that may seem like a lot, but I had the money, so I said "What the Hell". It came with EVERYTHING needed. It cut my track times from best 14.2, to 11.94 best. I got there only once, the 11's, my usual times are 12.3 - 13.0.

Since your car is stock, I'd sell it and look for a used low mile S197.

If you're set on keeping it... then do as they suggest above. Tork Tech kit, lowering springs, LCA's, FLSFC's, and shocks/struts

:stupid: I would sell your current car, they sell well stock. depending on the miles you could get 6-8k for your car, plus the money you have could get you a nice cobra that someone put a blower on already, or a Mach1... S197 Would be in your range and you should go drive one maybe its soo much better that you would be happy.

If you just love your car and want to keep it forever, then pull the motor and trans and get everything built right to handle the power you want to make. Upgrade the fuel system and the suspension. Then you will be in the position to do something the right way.

If you are keeping RWHP below 400, you should not need to do the bottom end. If like most, you want more once you have your 350-370hp then you will wish you had started with a forged bottom end.
Be honest with your end goals, think them through well and you will be fine.
A blower is a great way to go but do you want more top end or low end? Centri better for top end and roots/whipple/twin screw better for low down response.
You can supercharge your stock engine and keep boost down or you can go forged and get a good set of head now with that money and boost higher later with your next chunk o cash.
I would not go turbo with a goal of 350-370hp - it would be a waste.

F'k the car, spend it wisely and vacation in europe somewhere and hook up with all the hotties you can get...if u have a wifey, just tell her youre going fishing.....

Oh and save a seat for me on the plane

What about a 1.7 KB blower? That tech tork Kit is definitely being considered
now. I was even thinking about swapping in a terminator motor and trans. I'm just looking for a fun little street car. I plan on keeping the car and eventually starting a "real" project thats gonna make some crazy numbers that I can run with those supras and vipers down at those 2x2k meets in Texas!

I wouldt touch a 1.7KB with a stick. They were good 5 years ago when that was the entry level for the 2v. They have since switched from the 1.7 and 2.2 to the 2.1 and 2.6 for the 2v's. There are some serious problems with the KBs, they are good, dont get me wrong....I had one.....but I dont want another one. Thats why I went the tork tech route. The other thing I really like about the Tork Tech, its upgradable. With the KB, if you want to upgrade, you need to sell the old blower and buy the bigger one. With the tork tech, you can just removed the upper blower and swap a new one on....any type you want. KB, Whipple, Eaton.....a lot of choices.

So you want to run with those 1000hp Supras and 1500hp Vipers? You are going to be spending a TON of money my friend. Might want to check out purchasing a GT500 or even a Terminator. Don't get me wrong you can make our Mustang power plant a MONSTER but it will requier some deep pockets.

Ok, read my sig in post #2.....or read below :p And that Hyundai s**# was funny!

I've spent probably close to $5k on my car over the years (not all in mods) and if I could go back, I'd have bought my car, done a few key mods and left it the hell alone and put the rest in the bank.

Forget spending that kind of cash on a 10 or so year old car unless you have excess money to spend. Not just 5-6k set aside you're not currently doing anything with. Once you build it and stuff starts breaking or you get bored and start spending more, you'll wish you hadn't had blown that cash in the first place because you won't make it back.

the more you mod your car the more unreliable it get...that will get old and fast...ask me how i know...if i were you id take the car i have and the money, trade it for a car thats pretty damn quick stock, aka a cobra, and be done....

Myself if i could do it again id prolly do small mods a use the rest for a bad ass vacation...BUT on the same note i know what its like to want power and a supercharger will put a huge smile on your face
