I need your help.

I am absolutely sick of the people on the gto forums and how cocky they are. I officially am moving over to the Mustang side (the dark side) haha. I need everyone's help with schooling me on aftermarket parts for the mustang so I can rape any 6.0 liter GTO out there. The 06 GTO's are beasts but I know these new Mustangs have extreme potential to blow them out of the water. I know a tune is a must and less restricting exhaust system. Has anyone added LT headers and mid pipes to their 2011-2012 mustang? If so what brand and what size?

They could've put 800HP in those things and it still wouldn't make them cool or desirable.
Those cars look virtually the same as any P.O.S. front wheel drive GM product.
Let them GTO guys brag amongst themselves - who cares what they think anyway! They look dumb driving around in a Generic Motors product that looks like something you would drive to the grocery store in.

My somewhat tired 2004 4.6l will outrun them. You shouldn't have any trouble in a new one...I wouldn't obsess over out running them, however. I'm about to freshen up/rebuild/modify mine @89K miles and that will put them even farther behind.....:D

Thanks everyone for your extra push to get me over the edge for selling my 06 GTO. The new 5.0 's are amazing machines and after the test drive I fell in love. The onyl complaint I have is the extremely size challeneged back seats and the shoulder room in the front is a little snug. Other than that I love it. My gto, I could sit in the back seat comfortably and I am 6'2". Then again who buys a muscle car like this for the backseat anyways? haha I have only had one person sit in my back seat since owning the GTO so no biggie. Now all I need is some help with exhaust. I like the stock exhaust sound but I really need a louder/deeper idle. I am thinking about the Pypes Violater with aftermarket h pipe, will this do the trick?

love the GTO's even though theyre a coupe. and by aftermarket h-pipe do u mean offroad? cus I just have pypes pype bomb resonators aftermarket x with the stock cats. cant do too much in california. The idle is still too low for me when its mildly warmed up but then kicks up once ive pushed it for a good distance straight. around 60 miles or so.
the video is of just the pype bombs, stock h and cats

I want to keep the cats no it would probably be just an regular aftermarket h pipe. I wasn't sure how "good" the OEM one was. I like the tone of the exhaust but would like it a little bit louder though. I would definitely consider these though.

Just challenge them to an autocross/road course race. I drove an LS2 GTO off a GM dealer's used lot once. The 6.0L engine had obviously been tuned..I've never felt anything with that kind of low end torque before. The 5.0 Mustang, or stock LS3 Camaro aren't even close with the stock tune, so a tune is a must if you want to run in a straight line with them.

However, the rest of the car was garbage. The shifter/transmission had the throw and precision of a work truck transimission, and the steering had all the feel of a video game controller. The Mustang is a driver's car. The GTO is just a drag racer.

Here is what really made me go ahead and consider getting the 5.0 Mustang. First of all they looked absolutely incredible and the new body designs are perfect. I did not like the old school box rear ends and the old designs (like 5 years ago). Second of all it is a Ford, I know with a Ford product they will do what they can to make things right and I know it is a high quality product. Some people call the Mustangs interior as cheap plastic and in some cases they are right but the interior design, technology and appearance just really puts the GTO to shame. When it comes to speed I do think the GTO has some more low end but the 5.0 is still very fast and can be modded to be faster than the GTO's very easily (it is very close right now if not even). I am thinking with a tune, CAI, aftermarket exhaust and LT headers and some bigger tires I think I will be able to keep up with anybody. Eventually I want to goto STS twin turbos and then be pretty much unstoppable. haha

On the technology thing, the GTO's technology is almost a decade (okay a litlle more than ½ a decade) behind that of the new Mustang. As is it's design. The one thing I do like about the GTO, however, is it's stealth. It doesn't look like it should be fast. It looks like a Cavalier or a G6. That being said, I'll keep my over a ½ decade old Cobra......

Thought a litte bit about your posts. If you're buying a car (whatever car) to 'get even' and/or, in your words, "rape any 6.0 liter GTO out there", or get a car that can be "modded to be faster than the GTO's", again your words, perhaps you need to reconsider. There will always be people that you don't see eye to eye with, regardless of what kind of car you drive, and there will always be people that have faster cars than you (or I). If you have a GTO, you already have a 'fast car'. Selling one car that you recently bought to buy and mod another one to be faster sounds like a somewhat costly venture. Just something to think about.....

Ive always hated the mod vs mod argument, it seems silly to me to say, "oh yeah, well im gonna buy that car and mod it this way and it will be way faster than yours!" well of course... You can make a Honda Civic go to the moon with enough money. The Mustang is a way nicer car HANDS DOWN than any GTO or any GM product for that mater, just buy a car you enjoy bro, ive had Jeeps, GTIs other Mustangs, Eclipse, lots of cars and this mustang is by far my favorite (2011 GT) the 5.0 is beautiful with a ton of power. Dont buy a car to beat another car, you will never be satisfied that way.

All of your posts are 100% true. I wanted a mustang because GM is very dishonorable and screwed me over big time. Very long story and the mustangs are nicer in every category, interior, seats, exterior appearance, power, torque, driveability, gas mileage and technology. Hands down the superior car. This is why I wanted a Mustang so bad. lol not to just be the faster car. I will never buy, test drive or own another GM vehicle again because of my previous experience.
