As if the news of the 2013 Ford Mustang Shelby GT500 receiving 650 horsepower and 600 lb.-ft. of torque wasn’t awesome enough, we also found the new Shelby snake was to be capable of 200mph. When we read the details of this 200mph GT500 feat back in November, we were (for the lack of a better term here) floored. C’mon, 200mph (stable) from a Mustang? Crazy enough, it’s just what Ford had in mind the entire time.
Keep reading to get more on this fantastic accomplishment by Ford, Shelby and the SVT engineers & designers.

I think they will be in the low to mid 50s and most dealers will add 15-20k to that. Has Ford announced production numbers yet. My dealer said they are only making 650. If that true they will mark them up even more and most will never see the light of day.

Last I read on production is that they will be built on the same line as the GT. so no stopping and retooling. No artificial limit to production. They can build as many as are ordered. Good for supply and demand, bad for collectors' items.

I would guess the new one will be a few thousand more....

Here's what I know. Companies limit a car's top speed because they feel it isn't safe at faster speeds. We can add a lot to the boss's engine to make it faster but is the rest of the car going to be as good as the GT500 at 200 mph.

I look at bang for the buck. No one will ever or should ever anyway g0 200mph down the road. The Boss will out handle the Shelby and go 155mph, fast enough. I bet the Boss will beat the new Shelby around the track.......

Here's my dream... I'm in the military and every time I come up for change of station I request Germany. I'm aloud to bring 1 car. I would test the autobahn if I go.

This summer I go to Leavenworth for a 1 yr school. Next summer I'll move again. I've already been pushing my branch for Germany ( fingers crossed). That will line up perfectly with trading my Z for a 2013 GT500 or maybe a Boss. I'd keep the Z but with 3 kids I need the back seats even if they are small.

So I looked up the ZL1 just cause I haven't seen anything for the GT500. Well a fully loaded ZL1 goes for $58k.

Everyone seems to think the next Gt500 is gonna come in around $55k to $60k.
I guess the big difference between the 2 is gonna be HP vs IRS. Do you think 80 HP overcomes IRS?
