I have the cake! Now I have settled on the stage 2 kenne bell, but do not want to make a mistake, if the mammoth would fit on my stock engine, I would just buy that one. I will write kb again and ask if they can give me a tune if that would work. My car is a street machine, but I want to get into auto cross. I am having schedule issues, so I may not be able to make auto x, which leaves the local drag strip for friday and sat nights....these are my issues (how great is my life!)
What say you for advice? I also want to install this myself, but if I would find a good shop that was reasonable close to maine, I would have them do the install.
Any advice would be great, I have an 06 gt with a stock engine.
Thanks guys,
Doc

Hey man, congrats and welcome to the club! There are a lot of opinions on things like "which supercharger?" Are you dead set on a top mounted blower? Boosting your ride is going to put you in a whole other nutha auto-x class, though, with some hi-po machines. Like super street modified or something.

What made you initially decide on KB?

Why not get the FRPP whipple? 400 - 500 RWHP in an S197 car is plenty of power for the street and an autocross course.
Hi Guys and thanks>
from what I have read, the kb will allow my car to grow should I decide to use it on the drag strip as well as auto cross now. I can keep the boost low to auto cross and for my daily driver while I figure it out. I like the kb for it's construction and quality. I have been ready to do this for about two years, but always found other things to put the money into. Now I am looking at how to install the thing. I drove a friends cobra r a few years ago and it made my car feel like a mini van. Ever since then...well, you know what I mean.
I am not worried about being in another class in auto cross, I do it for the fun and at present work schedule I will take a while to get good at auto cross. There are a few super charged cars in our club, and my mustang will never be one of the top cars (especially with me in the drivers seat!)
I will keep you all posted
Thanks again

I've seen several guys run 2.8 KB on stock blocks. You'll have to spin the 2.8 slower than is optimal for the blower, but you can spin it to produce 8-9 psi. The optimal boost output for the 2.8 is 15 psi. You'll need a tuner to dyno tune it because KB doesn't have a canned tune for the 2.8 on a stock block.

If I was to do mine over, that's exactly what I'd do - leaves room for growth. I plan to go forged this summer and I'll turn the boost up with my 2.6, but I'd be better off with the 2.8 - more efficient/less heat for equivalent boost.

My KB went on with 2.5K miles on the clock and I've had a glorious time with it ever since.

The KB is a good blower but I would definitely get the water cooled version. The KB's run very hot and the water really helps keep the temps down. This would be extremely beneficial for your auto cross excursions.
