I literally think i have the worlds slowest foxbody. I bought the car a few months back. The owner said it was stock longblock with a b303 cam. Its got longtubes, an full exh, a cai, 3.55s, electric fans, and a short throw. I just put a 125 shot on it and i took it to the track sunday and ran horrible. The first pass was on motor and ran a 14.8:shrug: . Im a pretty good driver so i know thts completely out the question . I got the timing set at 12 degrees when i put the nitrous on. On the bottle it ran a 13.9. I mean it should run tht on motor and was hoping for 12s on spray. Idk what to try to fix i mean the car runs good. Any suggestion?

actually that sounds about right. without more efficient heads and intake the cam and exhaust arent really helping that much. I have a friend that decided to stuff an F cam into his otherwise stock longblock. He took almost a 25hp hit. Poor thing dyno'd out to 178rwhp. sounds like a monster though.

first things first though. have you done a tune up? hows your suspension? what tires were you running?

I just put in a brand new dist, autolites 23s with abt 38 gap, Newe msd wires and coil. Suspension is stock and crappy. As for tires i have bfg 275 60s. I know way too big for my gear, and they hook like crap i could only pull like a 2.1 60ft. They hook dead up on the street tho. Im thinkinh abt putting the stock cam back in and go from there. or get heads etc etc

Key words are "the owner said". When it comes to the cam there really is only one way to know what actual cam is in it. And even if there is a B cam, you could still stand to match it up with better heads and a good intake manifold (as stykthyn said). But still, your times don't look that far off from what they should be. Improve your 60 ft and you should get better times.

I would just save up for a set of Twisted Wedge heads. I've been running Thumper heads for a long time and wish I had just saved up at the time and got a set. I have a set of them in the garage I have yet to put on.

Aftermarket heads will wake it up. My best 1/4 mile pass to date is a 12.83 at 111mph. That's with a stock short block aluminum gt40x heads, an Edelbrock performer intake and a 75shot. I also still have the stock cam, although I did install 1.7 roller rockers. I wouldn't be surprised to see a full second knocked off your time with a good set a heads. I would also back the timing off to at least 10 degrees and install a colder plug.

On a 125 shot, yes it is that bad.
I ran a 13.6 back in the day with 3.73's an offroad h pipe and a 75mm pro m.

To the OP, list your mph's and 60ft times, that will determine if you are driving as good as you think you are.
I was cuttin 2.1 60fts, tried launching a couple diff ways track prep was pretty crappy, had to ride it out just to really hook. mph was abt 92-93 mph on motor and 98mph on spray. My last fox was a bolt on car and went 14.2 so thts why i was really stunned i was so slow.

You never said what year the car is, and that's relevent. I'd like to see an engine pic too, if possible.

It certainly does seem like the engine is weak. Even with 2.1 60-foot times, it should be quicker and faster. The most alarming part to me was only picking up 5mph on a 125-shot. That car should be approaching 120mph on a 125-shot.

I'd love to hear more details about the car, preferably with pics.

yeah man ill try to get some pics up. The car is a 89 still mass air. Has no ac, or smog pump. Some of the vacum lines are messed up but the car still runs good. well not good enough. Everthing is pretty much stock as far as motor except a b cam. cai, full exhaust. as far as mph it was starting to bust up a little bit in 3rd when spraying so i quickly turned the switch off so maybe that is why.

I see it has a b303 but without an intake track overhaul that cam is actually hurting your performance. way too much duration on that cam for those stock heads. That cam has to breathe alot! I made that mistake of putting a b303 in my stock engine at one point long in the past. Had a beautiful Idle, but car suffered performance. That cam really is not what its cracked up to be. go with something that will retain some torque. There is not many cams out there that are any better than the stock cam for the stock heads. The cam really is one of the last things you'll want to change (i know its hard not to, since everyone loves that sexy idle...).

Not to step on anyones toes but there is no way that car will approach 120mph in the 1/4 mile with only a 125 shot of nitrous.Even adding 100 rwhp will not put that car at 120mph. I would say your mph should be in the 105-109 ish on a good tune and well setup(with the nitrous spraying), without nitrous your looking at 97 or so most likely.

You say you have vacumme issues? What kind of issues? a vacumme leak can make a huge difference.
the mph seems a bit low however. with headers and ud pulleys and stock 2.73's my car was hitting 99-100mph flat in the 1/4 mile (thats slightly higher than most). How well you drive makes a big difference. And its not just if you are a good driver on the street... there is a big difference driving at the strip

I agree, 120mph is way off. Takes about 400rwhp to get 120mph, and my old 100 shot only produced somewhere in the 75rwhp range so i wouldn't think that 125 would be all that much more.

My advice, sell the nitrous and buy aluminum heads.
