Throttle body and plenum

I just ordered a sct tuner, was condiering getting the trick flow TB/plenum combo. Will this give my car anything? Have full plans on doing the Trick Flow intake later, but was thinking for the price the combo doesn't look bad. Also if I do go with it, 70 or 75? I did search the topic but didn't find much. I can't see myself dishing out the cash for the Accufab. Also what about just doing the trottle body? When I do swap out the intake, the TF does without the plenum so it would be collecting dust at that time.

I don't know what performance mods you have.....but this is the order I would mod (power/accleration wise).... so if you haven't done any of these I guess I would do them first.

1. save for blower
2. save for meth or intercooler for said blower
3. headers/ mid pipe
4. heads cams, supporting bolt ons (TB, Plenum, etc)

I think a plenum TB combo is a waste of money on an otherwise stock car. Just my opinion. If you absolute don't want to save for a worthwhile mod I'd do a midpipe

I have the 78mm combo. Only thing I know it does is, it makes a really cool whistle at tip in on the throttle. As far as performance, I don't know. Added it and the BBK cai at the same time and its a little quicker to rev, but not sure if its one or the other or both that helped. The bottom end suffered a bit with the loss of intake velocity. Have a tuner coming with my 3.73's and might dyno it for the hell of it. Place here in Vegas has been advertising 3 pulls for $45 lately. I'll report back if I do. Weld in flows are the only other power mod it has.

I just put a 75mm trickflow plenum and tb on my car around january and i've been very pleased with it so far. Sure i didn't gain 1000000000hp, but it's pretty much the last bolt on I had to do besides a blower or cams. If you do end up going the trickflow route, hit up Rick91GT, he's the owner of RNH Performance. Guarentee you he will give you the best price, and the best service out of any company...

When I added the TF plenum and 75mm TB is noticed nothing at all. Less than the pulleys. Less than a K&N filter and removing the silencer! I would put it bottom of the to-do list.

What mods do you already have?

I have the 75mm trickflow tb/plenum combo only downfall is I dunno if it was worth it. I did all my bolt ons at once and I get a nice 3rd gear chirp but I'm leaning more towards the sct tuner and xpipe that gave me the most gains. If you do decide to go with that tb you will need to do a little drilling for the throttle cable hook up nothing to hard tho.

I added the TF throttle body and plenum 75 mm a few months ago. It is a nice combo for the money. Probably only added a few ponies if that, but there is much better throttle response. If you get it, take everyone's advise and make sure the throttle cable fits - had to drill mine out to make it fit.

Jetmech807 let me know how the SCT tuner and 3.73 combo goes - that was going be my next upgrade. Everyone claims gears are a must have.

The throttle body/plenum debate over whether it's worth it or not has been had on here SEVERAL times. I honestly didn't believe it at first, but there were a few members that had some very good data indicating that the combo did net a decent gain at the track (nearly .2 seconds and 2 mph, IIRC). While I wouldn't buy them early on in the modding experience, I'd certainly consider the combo as you finished up all the other bolt-ons.

Tank has all the dyno sheets right?

The combo will net you gains- there was a comparison floating around that showed a 4-6rwhp gain with TB/plenum (w/ CAI).

That being said....I would put it lower on the list of bolt-on mods. I think hotstang put it best:
1. save for blower
2. save for meth or intercooler for said blower (could substitute 1&2 w/ nitrous obviously)
3. headers/ mid pipe
4. heads cams, supporting bolt ons (TB, Plenum, etc)

I mean it's like this..... All the cheap little $250-300 mods most people do add up to a blower fast. I have money to waste now on my car but when I got my blower I was strapped for cash. I did head cams TB Plenum shorties x pipe exhaust, all that stuff first. I really did it because I blew a plug out of factory head stripping the threads but it was the excuse I needed for my wife to get it done. I was very dissapointed by the power output on the dyno compared to what that money would have gotten me by going FI. I spend probably upwards of $3500-4000 on all that stuff. and that was installing it myself......

In retrospect I was on the hunt for a blower without much money and scrimped and bought my NOVI 1k off of ebay for a grand total of $1050. I did the install myself which was super easy. The only thing other than holding a wrench you'd have to do is plumb the oil line, but that's cake. I got a dyno tune for $350 and bam.... a HUGE jump in HP. Larger than all the other **** combined for less than half the cost.

So seriously, save that $300 that's burning a hole in your pocket or whatever your about to waste just to pick up a tiny amount of hp (my opinion) and save/ look for a bargain on a nice used blower. I don't think you will find one guy on here that won't agree. :)
