JUST HAD 373 GEARS INSTALLED IN MY 13 MUSTANG 5.0 AUTO HOW LONG SHOULD I WAIT TO HAMMER IT ???

HAD GEARS INSTALLED IN MY 13 MUSTANG GT WITH AUTOMATIC,GUY TOLD ME TO WAIT 500 MILES FOR BREAK-IN. WHAT SAY YOU GUYS,ALSO TOLD ME TO CHANGE FLUID AFTER 500 MILES.ALSO INSTALLED STEEDA CAI AND BRENSPEED 93 STREET TUNE.SEEMS REALLY DIFFERENT ALOT BETTER SHIFT POINTS AND FIRMER,BUT HAVENT NAILED IT YET ONLY 50 MILES ON IT SINCE INSTALLED.

I always hammered mine right after. Never worried about it. Others may say different.

If it's installed correctly, it shouldn't be a problem.

thanks alot,will go at least a tank of fuel i think,brenspeed has tunes for the new 2013 only one i know of so far.

Wait? For what? PUT THE HAMMER DOWN!!! It's not 1962, machining today is soooo precise that break in is not required, not for gears, not for engine.

Let me know how the gears do. Im considering 373s or 410s but can't really get a clear answer ftom tuners etc in the difference it'll make other than rpm calculations. Trying to go 11's and im low 12's now. If I knew it'd put me in the 11s id do it.otherwise im just gonna install a circle d.

Should not have any problems as long as the people doing the install knew what they were doing. As long as they did the pre-load on the bearings (or at least checked it) and the gear lash. Might not be a bad idea to have the fluid changed after 500 miles or so. Drive it as hard as you want.

I have an auto with 3:15 and thought about changing to 3:73 but I'm afraid that my gas milage is going to suffer. Please let us know what kind of gas milage you were getting before and now.

well my car only has 1360 miles on it,replaced gears from 315s to 373,gas mileage really hasnt changed so far still gettin 22mpg on highway,changed rpm by 250 going from 315s to 373s. runs 2250 rpm at 70 and 75mph to 80mph around 2500 rpm,also installed brenspeed tune and steeda cai,car runs just fine for me,never quarterd it yet,but i have trac apps so its coming soon,very glad i went with 373s no falling on its face anymore off the line.
