First let me say, GLAD TO BE BACK. I have been gone for 3 years. I sold out to an LS1 in a Transam, but I a damn glad to say I am back in a Mustang! Its like a long lost girl you wish you had never let go........
My new girl is a 2002 GT. Only 19,270 miles!! What a find. I know that the previous owner went through a Steeda catalog and loaded it up with some items, but this one has me stumped. I am not a 4.6 expert yet. Me and the 5.0 go WAY back, but this is all new territory. This module has 8 orange wires that are spliced into each coil. There is a black ground coming from the box as well to the chassis. Inside is an epoxied circuit board with components buried in it. Can anyone help? Oh and is this C & L plenum worth a crap or not?

Manual or automatic?

Is there a rev limiter or "two step" launch control on this car?

I just got the car yesterday. I see nothing like this in the engine compartment. I have yet to go to the computer. I do have a red wire that was cut and goes no where coming from the firewall. It may have been for something like a piggy back ignition or something. I do know that it has external crank trigger that I saw that is from Steeda but this is a stand alone fix for adjusting timing and should not have anything to do with the coils. The crazy thing about this little black device is it only has 8 orange wires and 1 black wire. Nothing else. No plug, no connectors. It looks like mini relays embedded in the epoxied circuit board, or fuses of some sort.

The box is truly strange: Tapped into each of the coil leads like this, a single ground coming out. And no other connectors? Can you grab a pic or two of the PCB? How deeply buried in epoxy is it? Any markings on the outside?

It's hard to imagine what this box is doing with these connections. No separate power connection?

Strange...

I have found something interesting after all. It has 8 green LEDS on the front of it. They light up as the coils fire. What in the heck would you need something like this for anyway? I am about to yank it off. I did find a another splice adapter, just like the ones for the coils attached to the throttle position sensor on the front of the plenum. The wire is not hook up to anything though, just a place to put the spade connector.
