Anybody Notice The Drivers Seat Is Not Centered On The Steering Wheel

I installed recaros out of a 90 GTI to get rid of my gansta lean. Sitting in a nice straight seat now the steering wheel sits to the right of the seat center line. Is it me or is everybodys foxbody like this without the gansta lean?

I guess I have never noticed it to be off center, but then my car doesn't have the gangster lean, either. Is it possible the stock seats have an offset that the Recaros don't, or vice versa?

I went and checked a friends car with stock seats not bent and never removed. His seat is offset to the left also.

Actually Dearborn Michagan if I am not mistaken. No Detroit crap here. Actually my Saleen was assembled in Dearborn, shipped to California, and disassembled (somewhat) and reassembled into a Saleen.

I had the gangster lean to my seat. It was an easy fix. Pulled off the top seat pad, re-welded all of the broken spot welds and cracks and voila. I even went a step further by jumping into the back, putting both feet against the seat back and pushing until I bent the seat frame almost completely straight up and down.


The seat is more comfortable than ever now.

I know how to fix them. But i onced owned a 79 pace car in highschool and i loved the Recaros. I decided i'd rather install those vs. fixing my stock seat.

Did you have the standard LX, or the GT seats in yours? I lucked out and found a set of black tweed GT seats for mine. Front and side bolsters, lower lumbar suport, etc. The previous owner also installed a set of Halo head rests, so they look extra "sporty" too. They're the most comfortable Mustang seat I've owned yet.

Recaro's do rock though.

No I meet the previous owner he weighs about 100Lbs, maybe it's his wife.
