the mil elminators help I'm needing isn't on a mustang but my wifes expedition, I went to their forum but got no replies. Awhile back I had to replace the cat on my wifes 07 expedition w the 5.4 litre and I put a universal cat on and the CEL is still on. Are MIL eliminators universal, do you think the ones that american muscle are selling for the 96-04 or whatever mustang would work on her car as well?? Thanks

new cat and new front O2's in the same location as oem, the backs are the old ones. For some reason the universal cat didn't work. I had the work done where my parents live which is about 2 and a half hours away and about midway though the trip the check engine light came back on. Computer was reset of course during the cat install.

P0420 & P0430 are the typical codes for cat efficiency. Happens all the time when replacing stock cats with hi-flow cats. Can be a bi**h to stop from happening. Double anti-foulers aren't working on mine and I can't turn the rear O2's off because of state inspection

I have seen this problem a lot when it comes to aftermarket convertors - they are junk.

Instead of dumping more money on the problem, you should return to the shop that installed the convertors and have them install another set under their warranty. You may get lucky and get a good set. If after having another convertor/convertors installed and the problem still exists, demand your money back. After you get your money back go to the Ford dealer and have a Ford convertor put on it.

Yeah next time I head up that way, (bout 2 and and half hours) from my house I'll swing by that shop. I've been running w the cel on for 'bout 2 months now and it's not running any bad or using anymore fuel or anything like that, the light is just annoying but I'm bout used to it by now. The light came on but half way home when i got the cat put on. More than likely I'll prob just ride w the light awhile. When I got it inspected I just reset the ecu and it passed.
