What If

TB and plenum won't net you much.

LT's (depending on the rest of the exhaust) could get you 15-20rwhp......but would cost about $800-$900 (maybe more) including labor.

So, you would spend about $1200-$1300+/- for about 25rwhp.

Thanks guys, I could do the labor myself . I did my own gear install ( I'm a mechanic by trade )
Basically the only thing on a car I would be scared to get into would be an automatic tranny. I was thinking the long tubes would be more of a supporting mod for a vortech kit down the road. Currently I have an offload x pipe to some weld in flows. For suspension I have cj pony parts 2 inch springs, bbk caster camber plates, and mm full length subframe connectors. Believe it or not the car hooks pretty good on the nitto 555s. So I don't really know if I wanna do more suspension parts at this time . I'm open to suggestions ! I thought the TB and plenum might be a waste, but they are just so easy thought I might try. Maybe do headers and cams instead ? I don't want to spray it at this time because if I got every thing I wanted for a nitrous set up , I would like about 1500 doing a vortech kit ( kit tune bottle heater remote bottle heater ect )

I am interested in this also. What brands LT's work best? I was just looking at macs. My next question is what about clearance? I have read if your lowered they hit. My prochamber hits now lightly every now and then. I did help a guy a couple years ago put on a set of equal shorties. It was a pita! Is there a write up on long tube install anywhere? I am also a mechanic. but on construction equipment. I will be doing this on jack stands also. My idea is I need to replace my transmission soon. So I figured while it was up, it would be a good time.

MAC is u at the top. I run a full MAC setup (LT's, mid-pipe, catback) and couldn't be happier. I am lowered almost 2" and clearence is a concern. I've had th LT's for long enough that I am able to judge whether I will clear or not just by looking. You learn to take speed bumps VERY slowly (and at an angle if you can). Honestly, clearance isn't a problem anymore. Im not sure if there is a write-up anymore, but an LT install is pretty straight-forward and easy......it's just a complete pain in the arse! I did mine with floor jacks, an engine brace, and dropping the K-member (easiest route).

Thanks! We are supposed to close on our house mid July, then I will finally have my garage. Sounds like I will make a go at this. Now I am preety sure I have read that Lts need to be removed to pull your trans, but not all need to. Do the Mac's?

Macs do not have to be removed is my understanding. Not sure about pacesetters. ( I've had them on ls1s, (fit great, buy the way I've also heard horror stories on gts). I just want my LTs to fit right the first time with little or no mods to k member, floor pans, or stearingshaft.
