Well guys I've saved up some money for a set of heads or a top end kit what do you guys think I should do trick flow top end kit or afr 165's with ether the explorer intake I have or a rpm2 and keep the e cam I have or I have a f cam on the shelf or I could save a little more and go with something from comp cams ill be keeping my bbk equal lenth headers my vortech v3 is gonna stay I'm gonna get a smaller pulley for it and turn the boost from 7 psi I have now to 9 or 10 psi and I have all the parts to do a five speed swap but the pedals can I use a set of 4cyl. Pedels as there's a ton of 4 cyl cars at the local pick and pull and I just can't stand the performance automatics AOD anymore what a waste of 2500 dollars well let me know what you all think I should do as I know there not a whole lot of difference between the set ups its a rebuilt stock bottom end also thinking of getting a Anderson Ford PMS for tuning

Well guys, I've saved up some money. I'd like a set of heads or a top end kit. What do you guys think I should do? A trick flow top end kit or afr 165s with either the explorer intake I have or a rpm2? I have some outdated alphabet cams or I could save a little more and go with something from comp cams. I'll be keeping my BBK equal length headers; my Vortech V3 is gonna stay, but I'm gonna get a smaller pulley for it. I might turn the boost from the 7 psi I have now to 9 or 10 psi. I have all the parts to do a five speed swap but the pedals. Can I use a set of 4cyl. pedals as there's a ton of 4 cyl cars at the local pick and pull? I just can't stand the performance automatics AOD anymore. What a waste of 2500 dollars. Well, let me know what you all think I should do as I know there is not a whole lot of difference between the set up. It's a rebuilt stock bottom end. Also thinking of getting a Anderson Ford PMS for tuning.

Fixed. Punctuation is your friend.

Anyway, what exactly are your goals for the car?

Well, everyone has their own preferences for heads, but most will agree that a custom cam is the best way to maximize performance. The motorsport cams "work" but there are much better choices out there.

I like the no fuss, no muss approach of the Trick Flow top end kit. It's probably a little more expensive, but with supporting intake and exhaust upgrades and honest 350hp+ is easily attainable.

If you're more budget concious, go ahead and go with the Explorer intake and skimp out on a few items that come with the kit (pushrods, timing chain, valve covers, roller rockers, etc). I do like the Trick Flow heads over the AFR's though.

afr or trick flow heads!.. sell the letter cam comp has much better cams off the shelf....and definetly go with a tune!! Anderson PMS or SCT

If you can swing the Trick Flow top end kit go for it. Pretty much everything you need except for a few small essentials (bigger injectors, throttle body, etc). Replace your lifters too, while your in there. Maybe your water pump too if it's old. See how things tend to snowball? I'm almost done with my TFS top end kit install.

Well this is what I think I'm gonna do I'm gonna do the trick flow top end kit with a off the shelf comp cam as the trick flow cam is really not much different then the Ford cams all though f is pretty good with boost I already have 42 lbs injecters for it and I don't plan on using everthing from the kit but it seams like the way to get it ill get MLS head gaskets arp head studs and I think I'm gonna run a set of the bbk valve covers now does anyone know if I can use 4 cyl pedels for my 5 speed swap thanks guys let me know what you guys think

It's got new lifters in it and the water pump is new to I rebuilt it 1500 miles ago and the supercharger has been on it for about 400 miles I'm only really doing this cause I ran into some extra money pretty much enough that I can do allmost anything I want too to it but I don't really want to get to carried away it runs super low 12's now like so close to 11's it will run them with the 5 speed swap

If I was going HCI, I'd be going with Trickflow as previously mentioned.

As for head choices? I like mine from a 110lb brunette with size C's :D

4 cyl pedals should work fine. I don't think ford changed anything with those. I am trying to think if anything was different with the quadrant but I don't think there was. Good luck and let us know if they are different so others can learn as well.

Well ill.go get a set of pedels tomorrow and we will all find out thanks guys so I ordered the trick flow top end kit last night and comp cams 35-440-8 its .281@50% duration and .512 lift as I don't want to run any more lift them that its not really to far from the trick flow cam in the kit or the f but its what where gonna run also called up Anderson and got the PMS and a pro m maf on the way to so I guess a build thread will be coming soon :) that's my favorite part of the car anyway its more fun to work on it run drive it to me

Just picked up a tubular gt40 upper off craigslist for 200 I don't know why I did it but I did not planning on using it with my trick flow stuff but I got cause I allways wanted one I may start shopping for a vert real soon hear so I guess all these extra parts I'm stocking up on can get used on it maybe that's probably gonna happen as soon as I get the gt done with it new set up ;)

Sorry guys guess I'm just not smart enough for your forem its ok I don't have to post anymore no problem ill still be building my car and to the mix and. Match guy guess you didn't read the fact I got a trick flow top end kit I'm using how's that mix and match so long guys maybe you would go work on your cars or go be school teachers that's even better

Dude, usage of a period to end a sentence was taught in first grade. If you consider it too scholarly to do so, does not make those of us that do "school teachers". It just means we made it to second grade.

Just slow down, and look at what you wrote. If you talk like you write, it'd come out of your mouth like a ticker tape.

It just becomes VERY difficult to decipher when you're trying to get your point across using a written forum. Try reading your posts out loud before you hit the POST REPLY button.

Those portions where you make a non-verbal pause as you read it back, require punctuation so that other can understand what it that you're trying to say.
