Dupped Again Are These Bad? (rack Bushings)

well went to the neighbor hood mechanic and had him put my 2004 mustang GT on rack to see what my popping noise in my front end was when I turn the wheel hard and he said it was bad rack bushing and wanted 160 plus parts to fix it. so I looked at a few threads on how to do install myself and 45mins or so later I had them out and changed. here is what they look like. my car again is a 2004 GT with 89k miles. I don't see these being bad enough to cause popping or vibration in the front to be honest. your opinions are appreciated.

Were the nuts on the long carriage bolts that hold the rack to the K loose when you put the wrench on them?

Those look fine, there can be a million causes to front end noise on mustangs and every one I have owned has annoyed me with this issue. Good luck.

they pretty snug to me. I did notice it seems my drivers side tire is hitting or rubbing the inner fenderwell somehow.

While you are under there use a long prybar to try to find play. Check endlinks, swaybar mounts, a-arm bolts, k member bolts, everything that moves.

Could be strut, strut top bushing, inner tie rod also. Could even be brakes or wheel bearings check it all.

ok seems like the best thing to do. wished the weather would break so I could check it all. had a few hour break in storms today and got the bushings in.

Did the popping go away? It doesn't really matter what the bushings look like, what matters is whether the problem was solved.

Honestly your bushings look like they could do with replacing. In all likelihood the mechanic saw the torn one and figured that was an obvious issue. He was throwing parts at a problem rather than finding the source, which is what you can expect from a neighborhood mechanic. But at 89K miles, they would have been a problem in the near future anyway.

I just had to remove the bolts, clean the holes and reassemble it to get rid of the popping noise on mine...but if I was paying someone to do the work I'd definitely replace he bushings too, no matter how the original parts looked...as long as your noise is gone you probably didn't get ripped off
