Hey guys my 2003 GT threw the check engine light today. I hooked up my SCT/Bama tuner up to the car and ran the diagnostic on it to check the codes. The codes I got were

P1000
P0133

P100o I read is just OBD II diagnostic testing incomplete... Ok what the heck causes that?

P0133 reads: O2 sensor CKT slow response (bank 1 sensor 1).

I'm a little confused about the first code and Im guessing with the P0133 code that my front left side O2 sensor is bad?

I wiped the CEL off to see if it would come back and after some driving it came back on.
Should I just buy a new O2 sensor and see if it goes away or is it something else I am missing? I went to Oreilly's online and found Bosch and Delphi O2 sensors, should I go with the Delphi brand?

Thanks for any help!

The PCM can "throw" numerous codes for many systems and subsystems. In order to know if a sensor is bad, however, the PCM's algorithm may require a specific set of driving conditions to have been met along with a particular sensor performance. So a given sensor may be "bad" but if it has not been been officially qualified as being bad by the algorithm the PCM won't set a code for it.

So the absence of codes is not necessarily an indication that all is well.

If you have emissions inspections in your area they may plug into the OBD port and scan for codes. If they find one you fail (typically.) If they find none, it may mean that the system really is good to go and has no errors or that the codes were recently erased and the PCM has not had a chance to complete all internal testing on all systems. The P1000 "code" is a tell-tale of this. It basically prevents you from erasing codes in the parking lot of the emissions center before getting a test done.

It will go away on its own when you fix the O2 sensor (just replace it...) and complete a full OBD drive cycle.

What a coincidence, the exact same code popped on mine about a month ago. I cleared it and it has not come back. Try clearing it one more time, I dont see how it is anything to worry about.
