Just Got My 85 Gt!

looks good. So, are you looking to keep it mostly stock? or are you looking for minor mods? Just a little confused on your initial post up to now. Either way, it sounds like you are on your way to building a nice little fox.

Right now im pulling my hair out. The drivers side header went on no issue...The passangers side, no luck. As for the ceramic coating, yea thats pretty well scraped off. Gues sill have to lift the motor up a bit and try it again.

As fag as the EGR and smog pump go, I know i have to get a air pump eliminator kit. But what do I do for the holes on the back of the heads that the tubes run to?? Do they have a block off plate?

I am not sure what 95bluestallion is saying (no offense) but you can unbolt the crossover tube from the back of the head then put a bolt into the head. I forget the bolt size but do a search and you will find it. I think some use a plug type bolt.

Ah yes! I didnt think of just turning the block around to use it as a block off plate! (95bluestallion)

And (old_blue) i remember my dad saying something about using a bolt. Ill see what the best route is. Thanks guys!

Im ordering a air pump delete pulley right now.

Don't waste money!!! Just remove the pump and run a short belt. Those pulley eliminator kits are a huge waste of money. If you already ordered it, call them and cancel the order, haha.

I see what he means now about the crossover pipe. I didn't think about that either which is a good idea since it is just a flush fit anyways.

I agree with the above about the belt. You can run a shorter belt without issues. Do a search on here and you will find the correct size belt. I think it is like 81.5" but check and make sure.

Well its been awhile...ran into some disappointment. Went to yank the intake off to switch to me Edelbrock. Well found some meannn sludge under the intake. The motor was so oily on the outside aswell. I decided to yank the motor out and use my brand new stock 302 i had on the engine stand that was waiting for my notchback. So, with this being said I tore the intake and heads off the stock new motor and had the heads shaved .20 and threw my new intake on along with a cam and lifters. Not really sure where i'll be hp wise. But now i need a clutch. Its not getting anymore performance add ons, so i dont need a crazy clutch. And between my Race boat and my 35' boat i really dont have much extra cash laying around. So whats a good reasonable clutch? I have to order one tonight so i can continue with the motor install! Thanks guys.

Im about to order rear control arms, uppers and lowers. Im not going to do any hard driving with this car. Im looking at UPR Elite Series control arms from mustangs unlimited. Uppers and lowers for 235$ Any good?

***IMHO***, UPR stuff is fine for quarter mile only cars that never ever set a tire on public roads.
***IMHO*** anyone that runs UPS stuff on a public road should do the general population and themselves a favor and just drive their car off an isolated cliff somewhere.
***IMHO***, same with Granatelli Motorsports stuff.

****TONS***** of threads have been posted about the two companies I mentioned above. Unfortunately, for "various reasons", many of the recent threads seem to "get deleted".

Note, that *I* am not saying anything "bad" about those companies (and often site sponsors), *I* am saying that those parts have their possible niche uses. And, use those parts for their niche uses.

***IMHO***, for any car that's EVER going to set a tire on a public road, go with Ford, Maximum Motorsports (http://www.maximummotorsports.com), Steeda, FRPP, etc. And, again, please read my comments above.

BTW: Four Eyes RULE!
Just change those death-trap 10" brakes ASAP! :)

From the small amount of searching I did just now it wasn't much help haha, the 85 might be a 10"

haha thanks man, yea i believe its 10" Im going to order a clutch kit that comes complete with new 10.5 flywheel. 280$ I dont care how long it holds up. I just need the car to move under its own power. sick of looking at it on my lift lol
