F3ZE heads currently at machine shop getting checked out and freshened up. I have the crane/ford 1.72 rockers and plan to use what I have. Gt40 tubular intake, 70mm tb cobra maf, 19# injectors, headers, pro chamber, Mac dumps, wc t5, frpp ds, and 3.73 rear. Shops telling me e303 and friends are saying b303. I know these are old tech cams but can be had for cheap. Any other suggestions from you guys on cam selection. Car is my daily driver and soon to get the odd track day.

How would tfs1 be with 1.72 though? Need to choose this weekend labor day sales I can steal a b or tfs1 new at the moment. A cam is one thing I'm pretty iffy about buying used...

Anderson N21 cam. Designed for use with 1.7RR and GT40 heads. I run the N41, as of two weeks ago, with 1.7RR, but I have SRS pistons with large valve reliefs. The N41 and N21 are identical, except the N21 is designed for the 1.7 and the N41 for 1.6. They are not cheap though, $300 new. Just like everyone else said, you could go custom for a few dollars more.

I have a TFS 1 with my P heads and stock rockers. I think the car's drivability is the same when it had the stock cam. If I remember correctly, TFS recommends 1.6 rockers with the stage one. I've only had the car to the strip once since the new combo; crappy track with no Trac-Loc and street tires ran 14.03 @ 102. I know she has more in her along with my terrible driving.

Dude you don't a custom cam with a mild build, Gt40 set-up. Get an OTS can like tfs1. Better than both b or e. But between the letter cam, choose e if it's a DD. It had lower power band. You will dislike driving with a b cam on the street because it's all top end and no low end tq. Tfs1 has better street manners, and dual pattern can help you get more power.

Sent front my SGS3 Epic 4GLTE Touch

Maybe I'll go with an Anderson cam....really not wanting to have to deal with changing rockers out for 1.6 tfs could be close with my 1.72s my cars rarely under 2k Rpms on the street. Kind of looking for something to have a top end pull to 6k

Then you might want to rethink your approach with those GT40 top end parts. The small valve and port design make them a great head for a torquey street engine, but an untouched set of GT40 heads and GT40 intake are going to start running out of airflow shortly after 5,000RPM and be completely out of breath by about 5,500RPM. If you want them to pull any past that, I would at the very least work the exhaust side of the heads a little and do some porting to that lower intake.

All the cam in the world isn't going to help you if you're forcing the engine to breathe through a straw.

E would be like .530 with 1.72 right. But b is more aggressive because of duration. I imagine it doesn't make too much sense to go crazy with a basic iron head combo but I definitely want the car to pull hard to redline for the odd track day. Could be a bit of time before I can afford a 347 build.

The B and X cams are very similar. I know the B cam gets beat up because it's an old grind, when matched with the right parts, it can still be a real performer and a whole lot of fun. And people do turn their heads and look when I pull into a parking lot or somewhere like a traffic light.

Bringing this back up, thinking about other than b303

Gearing forwards anderson n-21, steeda 18, crane 2031, or custom

Got my heads back with better springs 135 on the seat 320 open

After talking with Ed Curtis decision made he's grinding me a custom
That's a big expense for a GT40 top end. I personally don't think you're going to notice a difference from a decent off the shelf cam suggested above. Especially with the amount of used cams running around out there, but it's your money.

Got your heads back with "better springs". What springs are you running?

Comp cams 320 open 135 on the seat. Most ots new other than a b303 were within 30-40 dollars of a custom. I plan to upgrade to afr heads when money is better. Haven't found any used cams worth picking up and not knowing If that's a good option, one lobe messed up could grenade my motor no?

Roller cams don't wear, to my knowledge.
