I recently scored a turbocoupe rear on Craigslist ready to bolt in, new bushings, pads, rotors, the whole 9. Now my old one on the other hand needed brakes and bushings but it had a functional traclok and zero noise.
I swap the new one in a few weeks back and throw my old one back up on Craigslist free to good home, figuring someone could use it. Sure I could have scrapped it but I figure I'd help someone out that was in need. Not an hour later I've got a guy show up with a sob story and help him load it up. Good deal right?
So today, surfing the list what do I see? The same guy reposting my old rear for $200. I totally feel stabbed in the back. Hopefully it won't sell.

Happens to the best of us.... Times are tough, and a lot are out to make money.

Shoulda scrapped it.

I just set a glass top stove out on the road for the scrap guy. The electronics went bad

But i made sure i broke it permanently before setting it out.

who is to say he didnt need the cash to buy food for his family. if i was broke and needed cash i would do whatever was necessary to get some extra money. the economy is in the dumpster and this good gesture on your end may keep an honest man who is down on his luck able to eat for another week

well that's no reason to lie to me.

Did you list it for free? Or did he talk you into getting it for free? No offense, but if you didn't even try to get any money out of it, I just don't get it. I do agree that he could have done without a sob story. I'd probably been up front with my intentions if you asked. I usually sell stuff too cheap, but I figure I'd rather get it off my hands and to a good home, but I don't just give it away.

You should use another phone. Make arrangements to go see it. And get a picture of the guys face as you walk up and he recognizes you.

I did, just trying to clarify and make sure I didn't misunderstand him. I mean, I can see a fake sob story pissing him off, it would me too. But I don't see how you can get mad for someone selling something you gave away. I mean, if the OP wanted money out of it, he could have put a dollar amount on it rather than giving it away. Just my .02, but he gave it away of his own free will. Once he did that, it was the other man's property to do what he wanted with. There have been several discussions in here about flipping cars or parting cars out to make money for other projects. I don't see the difference. Are you saying that it is wrong or immoral to make money off of an exchange of goods? Again, its just my opinion. Just not sure what the OP is more upset about...the fact that someone made $200 off of him, or the fact that he gave a fake sob story.

seems like we are seeing it the same way. it was given away free then someone sold it.

I dont think its about wanting anything from the guy.

I think the op is irritated that he was trying to be nice and someone took advantage of his kindness

But the world is full of people like this.

This happened to me a couple years ago. I helped a (so called) internet Saleen friend out with some rare centercaps for his fox Saleen wheels. Sent them to him for free because I didnt need them.
A few months later I found my centercaps listed on Ebay.
I busted hm on it and he said he was getting a divorce and needed the money.
Yeah right,

That really CHAPPED MY AS-!

if he posted his phone number, now would be a good time to open a personal listing for a hot chic in CL with his number, it will be rining off the hook all day with dudes trying to fawk him

That would irritate me as well even if I was giving it away. Dishonesty/lying...:notnice: Oh well...what you gonna do. There are a very few locals I refuse to deal with. And yeah, I have their number/emails saved and if they pop up I just ignore them.

exactly, i could have sold it if I really needed the $ but I was trying to help out a fellow stanger, if I knew he wanted to sell it I would have held on to it until someone really needed it.
