A couple of weeks ago I purchased my 89 lx for $2900 the po didnt know much about it because he only had it for a few weeks before selling. I was wondering if there is any way of knowing what has been done to it? I can see the exhaust is newer, cartech plenum, and the bbk intake in the fender.
How do i tell if it has stock heads and cam?

Fixed the links for you. Don't try uploading them through Stangnet. Just link them directly from the IMG files in your Photobucket account.

Just from the pics, I also see a 3G alternator conversion and possibly an aftermarket shifter assembly. Good start. :nice:

If it idles smooth...it's probably a stock cam. lol....otherwise, there's no real way to tell other than pulling the engine down. If the heads are iron, they're probably stock. There's a chance they could have been swapped out to GT40's, which would be identified by a 3 or 4 bar casting on the end of the head...

well I cant tell a damn thing from the pictures, but im guessing since the PO didnt know better and you're having to ask that its either a REALLY mild build or shes bone stock. Nothing wrong with buying a stock car at all, just means no ones had the chance to jack it all up yet. Otherwise looks like a good buy

Two days ago my gas pedal got stuck under my mat and it revved all the the way up for a couple seconds. Now it run and drives as normal but there is a ticking sound from the engine. It sounds like the passenger side closest to the firewall. I dont know what it is. I tried to tighten the header bolts but they weren't loose. I think its a valve spring or a push rod?
