Pony or 10 holes?

I'm keeping my car fairly "original" and can't decide if I should keep my Pony's I currently have on the car or go for a good set of 10 holes. I found a guy with a mint set of polished 10 holes with new tires. Main reason I'm thinking of switching is the pony's currently on there just seem a little yellow to me...a little off for some reason.

Thoughts? Pics of my car are below with the pony wheels.

Really? Ponys.

/thread.

C'mon now...everyone is allowed a temporary lapse in judgement.

For some reason the 10 holes catch my eye every once in awhile when I see them on a car locally. Don't know if it's the originality of them or the fact that my Pony's look a little "dirty" to me and not bright silver anymore.

I actually like 10 holes. My car had a mint set that were maybe a 9 out of 10 that I sold. If I kept 4-lug, I'd probably rock the 10-holes.

Ponies

10 holes are 15" tires, and believe it or not, 15" tires are going the way of 14" tires.
There was a time that there was a huge availability of 15" tire sizes, but I notice that selection shrinking all the time.

Obviously the vast majority votes for the Pony's. I think I like them better on the 4-eyed Mustangs better than the 87+. I'm also not particularly thrilled about giving up the small amount of tire tread width either going with the 10 holes. Additionally, the fact that it would be a trade means I would be screwed if I put them on and decided I didn't like them.

Talked with a buddy of mine too and he discouraged me from making the switch as well.

I think I'll keep the ones I have and re-finish them again after the first of the year, this time taking more time for prep, laying down more coats of paint and trying to get the finish more even. I may try the VHT paint and clear coat this time (just do 1 wheel first) instead of the DupliColor wheel coating. I had problems with Duplicolor coming out more like a powder instead of a fine mist spray.

Have you thought about having them media blasted and powder coated?
Should look better and last longer than paint.
I don't think that's cost effective for me. For the cost of dismounting the tires, having the wheels blasted and coated, then remounting the wheels I might as well just go buy a new set of wheels.

I agree it would look better, but not sure I'm willing to shell out the cash for it.

lol.. i've been debating the same thing..

when i had my 90 i always wanted to put ponys on it. now that i have my 87 i'm thinking the same thing. i like the 10 hole and would like to keep the unmolested originally of the car but man there is just something about pony wheels that i love. may buy a set and have both sets of wheels and switch back and forth as i choose. also have been thinking maybe a set of 17" ponys..

my 10 holes need to be refinished. not curb rash or anything but the clear is looking like crap.. maybe if i can find a place to refinish them i would like them better...

i was thinking of these http://www.americanmuscle.com/silver-sc-4lug-17x8.html also but just not sure how much i would like them.. saw a car in oc md with them and they looked great. his were staggered. i'd have the same size all around so i'm not sure it would look as good..

There was a local guy here selling a set of staggered Saleen SC style wheels (the ones you posted on the red hatch and vert) for $400. Tires has about 65% tread. I like them alright, but was on the fence about those too. Sometimes I wish I would have just gone ahead and picked them up.

lol.. it sucks.. wheels are a make it or break it thing in the way a car looks. they are also a big expense if you get them and don't like them.
