Hey guys, I just got back about an hour ago from trading my 99 V6 for an 88 GT. I'm pretty excited because it reminds me a lot of my first mustang, the 93 GT. The car seems to be bone stock other than a cone air filter and a pro 5.0 shifter.

Everything seems good on it! Although, there is a little rust and it has a red interior.. I'll be doing little fix up things and cleaning it up here on this thread. So far all I've done is take off the upper part of the shifter for a stock one (You guys will like this), and I'm in the middle of putting on lx tail lights. I only have a couple pictures, so here you go!

And this was the car I traded for it. (Got it in pieces for $800 and spray painted it to the right color LOL)

Sorry for the super huge pictures, blame it on dropbox!

Awww man, that welded Pro 5.0 shifter handle was classic! :D

Welcome, and looks like a good platform to start from. Where's the rust at? Don't see any visible on the sides...is it on the hatch?

Yea, I thought I'd try out a new edge for once.. never again unless it's a cobra! That shifter gave me a pretty good laugh too!! As for the body and hatch.. It's got a little case of the rot. It's not bad though, only a couple spots of bubbled up paint mostly right up against the side skirts and one pretty bad spot of surface rust next to the trunk latch that i can fix no problem. The hatch has been replaced from a red lx, but they forgot to cut it in! But it's kind of okay because of the red interior (yuck). As for the cheese graters, they're already off and replaced with the lx tails :D Next up, I think I'll start getting the car ready for safety and it's last ever emissions! Then on to the new 3.73 rear. :nice:

I know! I was taught to treat the elderly with respect. Anyway, not a big deal but I got my lx tails in. Next I need to figure out safety and emissions. I think I need a tie rod or two but I'm sure I have that laying around, and it being stock it should pass emissions. But I'm worried because the exhaust is broken off after the driver side muffler and I really don't want to put any money into it. So I'm thinking really ghetto to just get through inspection and get some pre bent pipe and clamp it on, any other ideas??
