Wheels-Tires Size of wheel and tires... Max size for stock 66

If you want to up the size of your wheels go with a 17" wheel. The 16" wheel comes right to the upper ball joint and the 17" wheel goes above the upper ball joint giving you better clearence.
IIRC an 8" wide wheel is a little too wide, you might have to stick with a 7" wide wheel.
If you get the correct backspacing then you have the ability to rotate your tires and wheels.

Hi,
Doesn't it depend on the type of "look", you're seeking? As an example, I wanted to retain the "traditional" look of the period. Thus, I run this combo 225 X 60 X 15 BFG

I have 215 60 15 Yokohama tires one my 15x7 Magnums. They fit and look great. I have thought about going to 225 60 15. How much clearance to you have to the upper ball joint or A arm?

To get off the topic a moment, how well does the chrome on the aftermarket styled steel wheels hold up? I was thinking of going that route.

Hi,
Mine have been in use since 2004 and still look great. the car is on the road from spring through late fall. I think they were purchased from California Mustang? Obviously, I can't speak to recent quality. I give them a good polish in early spring.
Good luck with your decision and happy new year!
