cold weather starting

ok i've owned this car for about 6 years and a big problem is in the winter if i leave the car outside of the garage or out from a covering the battery has no power and it will not start, but when i put a charger on it, it will start right up. So i replaced the battery a couple years ago and even with a new battery i still had the same exact problem still. So question is why do i have problems starting my car when it gets below freezing?

my car does the same thing , except it will start it just has alot of trouble , i wish i knew y it did that too , try unhooking your battery cables before you go to bed the in the morning reattach them and try to start it

i mite try that but i dont think thats goin to help because when i measure the voltage im in or around 12 which is where i should be but then when i hook up the battery charger it jumps the battery to 15 volts and the car will usually fire just by adding the charger.

have you measured the voltage while cranking? you know they make batterys to widthstand a certain temp , i dont remember what its called but theirs a number on the battery somewhere that denotes the quality of it and its cold cranking ablities every battery is different , i spent a little more on my battery so i wouldnt have that problem.

A battery is a can full of chemicals that produce electrons . The chemical reactions inside of batteries take place more slowly when the battery is cold, so the battery produces fewer electrons. The starter motor therefore has less energy to work with when it tries to start the engine, and this causes the engine to crank slowly.

ive had what i thought to be a bad battery when it was actually a bad starter siloniod before , u might check that
