Exhaust Choices for a 87 GT, Prefer Not to go Flowmaster

I been thru, dynomax, flows, and Mac. I have Mac on my car now and it's my favorite so far. No one can say they have "the best sounding exhaust"...it's totally subjective.

Here's idle vid of equal shorties, o/r x pipe and Mac flowpaths

Yeah, like I said, you'll get a million and one varying opinions...
I have had several Mac products and love them for quality and fit.
They are not as expensive because they are not made out of high end materials or have high end band clamps, and that sort of thing.
The SLP, for example, has all this, and costs twice as much, but sounds like ass. So it's all in the eye/ear of the beholder, as well as the depth of your wallet.

I love Mac stuff.

I've had plenty of mac parts, all have been replaced not because i wanted to, but they fell apart.
Sounds is subjective, so as what sound people like, that's personal opinion,, but quality and fit i consider to be fact rather than opinion.
By saying the quality of mac is good is like saying every exhaust is good. It's the bottom of the barrel and if you live in the north and daily drive any mac products, they just aren't going to last. The materials are cheap and thin, then you mandrel bend it and it gets stretched in the bends, some actually rot from the inside out.
I speak from experience.

Als0 someone who has also had mac mufflers and flowmasters, IMO, they sound very similar.

Exhaust sucks to do two three times, it's money in the garbage, just buy the good stuff from the get go, in the end it will cost you less. A 10 year old bassani x pipe looks better than a 1 year old mac h pipe.

Right now I have bassani long tubes, h-pipe and SS bassani cat back and it sounds great. The past 6 or so mustangs I've used all Mac products and thought the car sounded great. Prior to that it was what ever headers and h pipes I could get cheap with flow master 40 series cat back and that's what got me hooked on mustangs. I never bought a mustang for a quiet ride and I love the drone, that's what these cars are all about raw, loud and fun our generations 69 camaro's.

All the exhausts mentioned sound good and perform about the same listen to clips on you tube and decide for yourself. It's not the most expensive upgrade you can always change.

I agree 100%. Sometimes I wonder why people complain about the drone. It's part of the car. I f'n love it!

On my last car I had bbk shortys, offroad H pipe, and flowmaster 40s. That setup isn't too loud unless you're on it, and at idle it's nice and throaty. But after hearing I'm pretty much sold on long tubes, offroad H and spintechs for my new project.

Sounds similar to my car, but way rattier and not as clean sounding. That car sounds like the valvetrain is blowing out the tailpipes.

I would def have to say mac has one of the nicest and deepest sounding exhaust I've heard. Especially when u bury the pedal in the mat. I know everyone is high on flowmasters and they do sound great but mac is something a little different but it sounds great. Go on their website and they'll have sound clips. Ull be impressed

I've had Flowmasters (both 2 and 3 chamberes, I'm old school so I don't know anything what series that is) Mac, Dynomax, and Edelbrock. I love the sound of my Edelbrock cat back, not even sure if you can buy it anymore, but it sounds different than anything else I've heard, I use it with unequal shorties and ORH. The Dynomax were my least favorite.
