I'm a big guy, 6'4" 260. I'm Looking for a quality reclining seat with bolster support for my 68 fastback. I need something comfortable for long drives and hold you in place on track days. I'm building a sports car not a drag car so seating position means a lot to me. I like some of the newer mustang seats but am worried that they might sit too high. I do weld so I can modify the frames/tracks if possible. Most of the ones I've sat in are too small and the procars don't have the look I want.
Does any have any experience in this department?

Thanks guys,
Scott

the pro cars would have been my choise ,as for the seat platforms you can remove the old ones and replace them with 69 platforms and gain one inch. they also tilt back slightly so you will gain quite a bit of head room. the seats i realy like are Trans Am- Fire Bird 1999-2002 seats

Get a one piece headliner from mustangs to fear, gives you an extra inch and a half of space. I have pro car rallys in my 68, you have to recline them a bit but they work for us big guys. However they are hard to get in and out of because of the bolsters.

I'm 6'6" and have a 73. A bit Larger car, but i have the same issue. I did lots of research and phone calls, I came up with corbeau vx2000 A wider seat and bolster spacing then most "racing" seats but not so aggressive that they are uncomfortable to cruise in. The are reclining seats and corbeau makes seat rails to fit the mustang all years that have the built in slider for a few more bucks

Procar makes more than one model. I'm 6'4 280 and bought a set of Procar Rally's, they weren't going to work for me so on fleabay they went. I ended up with a pair of Procar Elite Lumbars. They are as wide as would fit between the tranny hump and the rocker. They have some bolstering but not too much and are very comfortable on long trips. Although the seats sit pretty low I lowered the seat pans and moved them back a good three inches.

Yea those might be the ones for me. I like the look a lot more then the other style. I was just concerned with them fitting me, and the car. They look great in your ride, and I think I might go with them.
My next question is how do the feel after a 3 hours drive?

I like the racing seats above also, but I've been talking to my who sells them and he thinks the wide would also be too tight for me.

They are very comfortable on long rides. I cruised all over New England last season , logging over 6K miles, no complaints. They don't look out of place in the car either, no offense to any one but that Corbeau seat just screams rice to me.

Did you get leather or vinyl? I can't tell from the pic. How's the quality of the material. I'd like leather if it doesn't look out of place. They do recline right?
Also wanted to tell you that you have a kick ass 69 Mach. My first car was a 71 Mach, 4spd, 351C, FB. Way too much for a first car, and it got totaled. :(

I went with the vinyl, the leather seemed like overkill, have had no problem with the quality. They recline and also have a manual lumbar adjustment wheel. Thanks for the props, sounds like a badass 71 that died too young!

Yeah, the corbeau seats are definitely a more modern style, but size wise they aren't really any larger then the factory hi back buckets I had stock, the reason I chose those was because my car is a resto-mod, the interior is color and fabric matched, or will be, and the seats are functional in that the car is going to have aggressive suspension and brakes for occasional SCCA racing, but still comfortable for long cruises. In Montana everything is an hour and a half away. lol The procar seats do look very good in the car, and my 71-73 bodystyle is a bit larger and makes fitting the seats easier. I wish I had a pic of the seats in the car, they were on my phone but got erased. lol

I sat in the regular width, and liked the seat. It was just to small, and the wide was still too tight in the shoulders. I like to lift weights, and its always tough to fit me into cars, and cloths...... I think the one chill has will fit me good. I like the look of bolsters, but they just don't work for me.

Everything in California is an hour away, but only 10 miles...... Traffic.......
