I just bought a nice fastback 1965 Mustang. The previous owner told me that the rear end has been replaced with a 8.8 posi rear and disc brakes.
When they did the swap they didn't install the parking brake, so now all parking brake hardware is mising. Now Im having an incredibly hard time finding out how/where to find the parking brake hardware and how to install it. It seems like it is impossible to find an actual parking brake kit for the 8.8 posi, which I find very strange.
Does anybody know why there is no parking brake kit available for the 8.8 posi? Are there any other solutions?
Any help is much appreciated, thanks.

First, is your mustang an auto or stick? Assumung the parking brakes you are talking about are the drum style brakes in the disk rotor, if you have an auto, I wouldn't bother putting them back on. If you have a stick, you will probably have to source some parts from a junkyard. Personally, I don't care much for the setup, but that is my opinion and I'm sure others will disagree. Good luck with your project!

Ford Motorsport used to make a kit for it, but that was discontined years ago and it was for a Fox Mustang with the lever between the seats. You might have to dig up original pieces for a 1993 Cobra or the mid-'80s T-Bird Turbo Coupe and get creative to make it work with the 65's hand-pull.

what kind of disc? I've got explorer on my 9", the parking brake was easy. I would not have the car without the e-brake. More for a loss of brakes, it is nice to know I've got a back up system. I did put a fox style lever in between the seats. I used a kit (can't think of what brand it was), but daze has a write up. Mine ended up real similar.

Thanks for the suggestions. Are you certain that the parts for a 1993 Cobra will fit? In that case I should be able to use one of these kits:

or

is that correct?

Then I will just need to find the parking brake handle/lever and cables/brackets. Perhaps I can use the solution mtaqua mentioned above.
I read many places that people use Fox parts also, is the Fox parts the same as the 1993 Cobra parts?
What I got is a manual transmission and the rear discs are from Aero Compenets, not sure what part number they have but its without any kind of hand brake hardware or brackets whatsoever.

I think you are going to need to change brakes like you said.

They make a kit with a parking brake http://shop.aerospacecomponents.com...parkingbrakeoldspontiachousingends-1-1-3.aspx

not sure if you can add to what you have. then you would need all the other stuff as listed. I used a lokar kit

and a fox handle like in the daze link. I did end up welding the teeth together as I couldn't get the auto adjustment spring thing to work correctly.
