First time poster here - really glad to find the site!

Went in for an oil change for our 2006 GT convertible and was told we needed both lower ball joints and lower control arms - about an $800 'fix'. Really sicks because the car only has 30,000 miles on it - and I'm not really sure what we need to do the job right. Really do not want to do this every 30,000 miles.

Some people have suggested replacing stock parts with the GT500 stuff, and others say the Ford parts are still junk - go to an aftermarket replacement.

Any and all help is greatly appreciated!

I would check em yourself or get another trustworthy check. I have 137,000 miles on mine and mine are still fine. 5 day a week, twice a day I hit a pretty good bump and I love turns quick. I don't beat on it, but I'm not nice to it either.
I do like to replace parts with better parts when the time comes though.

Get a reputable second opinion. And if you need to have them replaced don't go to a dealer. Instead use high quality aftermarket parts. Lots of good aftermarket solutions out there. I like BMR...
