Ok I just picked up a 88 GT that was converted to carb (Holley Street Avenger 670). Car has been running ok and its a great learning experience for me since I have never owned or worked on a car with a carb. The problem I'm having now is that Im not getting any fuel up to the engine. The fuel pump is running (external pump) but no fuel in the lines. I have pulled the line right after the pump and nothing. My question is, shouldnt 3gal of gas be more than enough for the pump to pick up? Or should I just keep adding gas? Thanks in advance.

So Im looking at either dropping the tank or making an access hole in the trunk (seen a write up on that)? Think Im going to have a sump built in the near future.

So I didnt even think about that, just tried it and nothing. Is it possible for the fuel pump to sound like its working and not actually work? Never had anything like that happen.

I assume you checked the wiring to make sure it is correct? Remove the outlet line and stick that back in the 5 gallon jug. Does it pump any gas? Inspect the fuel pump, filter, and lines for dirt or blockage. If you have some compressed air you can blow out the lines. Could be a bad check valve. Sounds like you will need to chase it down from the pump forward to the carb.

Yeah Im thinking its the fuel pump. I did what you said and fed a line into a gas can and it didnt pump anything. Im going to check one last thing but im pretty sure its the fuel pump now.
