Will H02S pull code from a broken cat?

The codes I currently have are P1151 and P1152 which indicates RICH AND LEAN from the upstream drivers side sensor. I bought and replaced the O2 sensor and while doing so I found that the drivers side catalytic is broken. I dropped the midpipe and shook it out and a few clumps and a lot of charcoal dust came out of that catalytic. My questions are as follows:

1 - Could the upstream HO2S pull a code for the cat that is below the sensor?
2 - If the HO2S is the source of the P1151 and P1152 will the broken cat cause the downstream HO2S to pull a code?
3 - Would you recommend I replace the cat that is broken or is it okay to leave it?

For anyone that found this post searching, I fixed this problem by replacing the O2 sensor.

If anyone reading this is pulling a P1151 AND P1152 code I HIGHLY reccoment replacing the driver side upstream O2 sensor, It worked for me and I was very doubtful about this situation.
