Bought a used Hammer shifter to replace the stocker in my 90 AOD. In searching for the install instructions, I came across many who had problems with the shifter- not hitting park or 1st primarily due to the cable length not being long enough with the new shifter to fully engage. Although this is my 7th mustang, it's my first with an AOD.

Before I spend the 2 hours of install, was wondering if anyone else has this shifter and experienced any of those problems, and what you did to resolve it, and your opinion on if I should install it or sell it. This is not a race car, just my DD that I would like the look of the shifter and maybe have fun with the ratchet shift.

I've also installed one in my 91. My first AOD fox as well. I've got no issues since install, other than it does not lock out neutral. I bought it for looks also, because my factory one was shot and I couldn't find a good replacement. I wasn't looking for the "ratchet" action because that really doesn't work with an AOD unless it has a manual or "hold" valve body.
