I am getting around to selecting a water pump for my almost stock engine (heads, intake, cam, 2 core aluminium, street under drive pulleys and efan added).

Wondering what is going to be my best option for a waterpump.

I have a CSR electric unit I could use, but I think it is not necessary for my basically stocker.

Thinking of getting an Edlebrock, but it cost ($172.00)! Can get a Lifetimer -stocker at Autozone for $33.00.

What should I get???

So I would be loking at a Bosch piece for the 302??? from anyone with a good price....

Edit: went to rock auto site. They had 2 versions of the Bosch pieces, one was a standard version and the other said it was the Heavy Duty version. Funny, when you go into the specs. on both, they don't mention anyting about what makes the heavy duty on HD.. BTW, the HD one is $52 and std. was $28. Good Prices!

I just got a stock replacement from the local parts store (Advance or AutoZone).

Thanks Boost. I think I looking to get the FRPP unit because I got to buy more stuff at the same time, and I trust the OEM Ford parts.

Was hoping Bosch site could word me towards their HD Pump but nothing convencing. I coulkd find out waht make thir HD Pump, HD; though I do know they make good product across the board.

Very good point! That's why I have not pulled the trigger on the buy yet. Wanted to hear more thoughts.... That was my point about Bosch, I have purchased a lot of their product over the years, especially power tools and have been impressed with the quality. I get your point about the flow thing, just down to a quality choice at this point - probably not a big difference....

My brother, and I both have the Ford Racing water pump on our fox bodies without any issues...

Yep. Run them for 20+ years and not one problem. We are talking Ford here, not GMS so I am not scared they are made in China. Try buying a set of rotors made in the USA today. Most of them are made in China foundries too. I try and buy US made whenever I can, but I've bought Edelbrock parts before that were crap made as well. My 6037 heads wore through the spring shims in less than 5000 miles because of the poor quality and design and I had lovely little pieces of metal shavings all in my motor. But hey, Edlebrock was kind enough to send me out new hardened shims for free. Who cares I had to tear the whole motor apart, right?

funny. after posting earlier and going out to screw around with the car i now have a timing chain cover/ water pump gasket leak! WTF!!!

Hope I didn't jinks you!! Does this mean you change your mind a bout "stocker all the way" recommendation.

Mike, what did you do with those shimes??? :stick:

Man!, that CHINA Issue - Love-hate relationship with that. Love the prices, but hate the heck out the crappy quality parts when you get them. Like you elluded to Mike: there is really nowhere else to buy. Everything is made in China now! Next, our babies will be made there..... :flag: :zipit:

I'm running a all-new Autozone Duralast pump - $30 and made in the USA. Be sure to use Fel-Pro gaskets.

Reefblue, the one good thing about your selection is that you get to get a brand new one whenever the Duralast piece fails -FREE if you keep your receipt. Anyone ever called in that warreanty successfully? I seem to loose mine or the ink fades before then. I guess one of those is a good thing.....

Just a thought instead of buying a $200 water pump why not invest in a $25 SSP water pump pulley. It would in retrospect have the same effect....

Jason, what's an SSP?:chin

Edit: I forgot to mention, I went with the Bosch Water Pump 98075 HD. $52 free shpg. Amazon.

I'm taking a chance on it for the the reasons mentioned above, I next best choice, opted not to do the FRPP unit. Hope it works out. I'll through-out some feed back on what the unit looks and feels like when it comes in. Got to wait a bit for the Germans to make some more though.... lol everybodies out of stock on them!

now i am in your boat. i am not going to tear the whole thing apart and put an old water pump back in it. considering the ford racing pump as all the other refurbed are no brands and cost $10 less than the ford racing.
