My car was broken into and the window busted. so i am trying to replace the drivers side window and do not know how to get it in the door!!

There was a metal rod that went from the top of the door to the bottom with two bolts that i unbolted which allowed me to rotate the rod to get the old window off that metal track...but now do i install the new window??? it doesnt even seem to fit in the door from the top!

You have to put it in at an angle. Tilt the front part of the window into the door frame first, then slide it down and tilt the back in. You may have to play with it a bit, but it should go in pretty easily. You kinda have to get it to tilt and go down at the same time or it gets hung up. The window should be tilted around 45 degrees when you begin to insert it.

One thing - If your new glass is tinted, put some tape on the top edge of the door frame (make it thick) or the metal will rip your tint. Ask me how I know!

Yep, you need to remove the rivets in the middle of the plastic bushings on the glass - you can drill them out. You then can replace those rivets with a bolt and nut when you reinstall it to the regulator in the door. You can size the bolts by popping off the plastic bushings and taking them to the hardware store. Go as short as you can while still having good thread engagement. I used an allen style bolt because I thought it would be easier to maneuver the allen inside the door.

or should i maybe take a dremel and cut those three prongs off? and then put a center punch on the center of the rivent on the side where its domed as shown from window 2 pic and hammer from that side? or do i not need to cut those prongs off?

You can do it that way, but when you drill it out you knock them off anyway. I just like to knock out the center (from the side in picture 2) because it makes it easier to drill. You can cut the prongs off the back, it just takes longer that way IMO, but if you feel more comfortable with that then that is fine. Basically, do whatever you need to get that piece separated from the glass.

well i got the rivots out. the window.holder in the door. window in door and everything bolted up. however when you first hit the down button it pivots towards the front of the car then goes down. likewise when you first hit the up button, it pivots towards the rear of the car before going up, then goes up... it misses the track where the window eedges into the door toward the rear of the door then correscts itself.

does that lil square that runs in the track of window have two different widths? maybe thats why its rotating... any other ideas? also how much do you tighten these bolts down?
