Official "Post pics of your Bright Tangerine '96" thread

If you type in 1996 Ford Mustang bright tangerine the specs should come up on it. There really isn't a lot of information on these and I'm not sure why when there are ony 829 of them. I had considered starting a site for Tangerine/orange mustangs because I'm curious also about these cars. I love mine. Mine is stock with 87K on it now and recently attended the Carlisle Ford Nationals in Carlisle PA and won 2nd place, (there were only maybe 10 cars) but still...... in fact one other tangerine mustang with black top/interior came in and parked with me and he had never seen another one of these cars. Where are you located? I'm in upstate New York.

That's awesome to have even a 1 of 27 car! Not to mention if its one off! I was surprised to find out how rare this color was AFTER I bought it and that they made fewer of these than the Mystic Cobras
I'm not really sure how he determined this to be 1 of 27. I'm hoping that I can get Ford or someone to give me some information on the car. Yea, these cars seem to be like trying to find a needle in a haystack. They also were only made in the GT model they do have some with the Boss and I heard there is a Saleen, but not really sure on that. When I was looking for one I wanted one that was not molested and as close to stock as possible. So the one I do have only has the K&N air system and Flowmaster Amercian Thunder exhaust. (have the original air cleaner).

Mine only has 73K but it has quite a bit done to it. DSS block, PI heads and intake, etc. I'm hopefully getting it repainted this winter. I'm surprised someone did all the work to it considering there's not a lot of them. I'm in Dayton Ohio. I'm on a local mustang site down here and there's no one in southern Ohio that I know of. I have a buddy that works at Ford, so I'm going to see if he can dig up any info on mine. You're lucky you found one unmolested... It's hard enough JUST to find the color, alone! Lol

How did you find all that out? Mine has a 5-speed, with a grey interior. I was TOLD that most of them had black interiors but who knows... There's usually a registry for rarer cars with more information, but I can't seem to find anything.

Years ago the yellow mustang registry guy started the tangerine mustang registry for the 96's only. He or someone on his site had the records that broke the cars down, similar to the marti report. I sent him my vin and he broke it down by seats, transmission, and body style. I don't remember any other option mattering. It has been a few years since I have seen the page for my car but my 5spd coupe with black leather interior was one of like 139 out of the 829. Unfortunately the tangerine registry is gone now. I remember reading that the rare interior color was white for the tangerine cars. Not sure if that is true or not. Nice to see another one still around.

Ok, so on a whim I bought the domain name orangemustangregistry.com. Going to be getting it set up and gathering some info on all orange mustangs. Apparently the owner of YMR sold the Orange site to a girl and she let it expire after doing nothing with it. My buddy is good with graphic design and web hosting so hopefully ill at least get it started soon.

Ok, he probably had it backwards and grey is the common color with Black being semi-rare. It's still nice to talk to a few people you at least know a little about these cars.just wish there was more info for them.

I think he is right. I believe black is the most common color. Keep in mind there was leather and cloth seat options for black and grey and I believe white was leather only. I have seen primarily black interior here in oregon on the tangerine cars, both cloth and leather. I have seen a couple white interior verts as well. I have not seen a grey in person but have seen one posted on the net years ago. Another few years Marti should get the records for our cars so we should get a better break down then.

Do you know if he still has a copy of the data? He had a good start on collecting the info from the 96 cars. Are you going to include the 04 competition orange cars in your registry?

I'm still trying to get ahold of him. I might have to create a profile on YMR and see if I can get in contact with him that way. I don't want to step on any toes if he's planning on starting back up soon.

Yeah he said he wanted to concentrate on the yellows. He just emailed me and found some of the data. Once I get the site up and running ill acquire the info and post it up. He also has in depth information that breaks it down individually that he had to pay for and gather over the years. I called Ford and they don't keep info from that long ago on file so it's my only option.

Sorry that I haven't chimed in. I'm in the middle of moving so getting things unpacked and also having surgery to remove a kidney stone. that's cool that you bought the site. I'm def interested in getting this site up and running. My first tangerine vert was on the old registry. When I get settled I will play catchup dont want to miss anything.

Lol, you have some time. I don't know much about web design, so my friend is going to teach me a little when he gets a chance. Plus I have to save up a little for the software to make a decent site... Not that Godaddy.com thing I have up now, lol.
