I am a long time member who due to lifes changes has not been on this site in a few years. I have a 65 K Code which I have owned for 16 years. While driving it yesterday I heard a "pop" sound (which I also felt) when depressing the clutch pedal to make a shift. There is now no real resistance for the first half of the pedal travel when the pedal is depressed, then it feels normal from there to the floor. The car still drives and shifts ok and the pedal does return to regular height when released but something obviously has broke. Any ideas as to what has happened/let go? I have not have a chance to look at it yet. but will be doing that in a day or so. Thanks in advance for any thoughts on this.

sounds like the pivot bushing for the pedal is cracked / broken. You can buy the new bushings or if the housing area is cracked, you can by a kit to replace / repair the area at most Mustang parts sources. Real common failure. You do have to stand on your head to get down there and fix, though.

Thanks for that! Does the pedal assembly need to be removed from the car or can the repair be done with the clutfch pedal in place? Looks like removing the drivers seat will be a big help in getting to this srea. I did see rebuild kits online for $50 to do this.
If you're a contortionist it can be done with the pedal support in the car. Instead of the straight bushing repair, I'd use this event as an excuse to move up to rollers. Same amount of work, slightly more cost, way better clutch, easy and smooth.
