65 289 Header Fit Question

Just got a set of Patriot H8426 Tri-Y headers for my 65 289. Automatic, no accessories - as simple as they get. No surprise, passenger shock tower interferes, but a quick knock with hammer should fix that. The real problem is that the collector angles at least 10 degrees toward the center of the car. I expect it to be parallel to the driveshaft like the drivers side. This complicates the exhaust hookup and just doesn't look right. Does anyone know better? Thanks!

The passenger side usually goes in a lot easier than the drivers side, you shouldn't have to hit it at all. I have had the best luck going up from underneath the car, rather than removing the valve covers, and going down from the top. The angle you describe is typical, and when you get the exhaust work done, they will know how to even out the pipes...

These are actual original Tri-Y's on a 66 GT350H. Looks to me like the right side does come inward more than the left.
