Over Fueling.

not to switch gears here, but whats the best way to clean nasty seats/carpet? they will be outof the car since im sound deading it, just dont wanna spend the big bucks on new carpet and getting seats recovered.
take carpet out , bring it to a car wash or a friend and power wash it and scrub with tough stuff cleaner , let it dry in the sun, seats can be scrubbed with tough stuff and a scrub brush and I have also mixed tide laundry detergent in a bowl and scrubbed .

The car wash near me has a carpet cleaning thingy. Its a brush that spits out foam cleaner that you rub into the seat, then flip the switch and grab the vacuum and suck it all up. I did that to my mustang, and after one treatment it went from TOTALLY STAINED, to lightly stained. If i go do it again, it will look pretty good. A third time might make them look NEW. Check if a car wash near you has this, because it works great. My seats are gray but they looked almost black because of all the stains. Trust me works great.

If you want to get really crazy, you can throw the upholstery covers in the washing machine. This is especially a good idea if you are removing them to fix a leaning seat. If your seat isn't broken, but you want to take it apart to clean it, take the time to reinforce the seat brackets.

Here is how mine turned out.

im not gonna clear codes yet, might as well tackle a few things first. where is the map sensor location? gonna try to clean it, and is the tab/tad sensors able to be cleaned? gonna get vacuum tube sizes and check and replace any that look brittle or just might replace all. also i tried setting my idle but theres not enough wiggle room with the tps to change it.

and when i timed it i set it right on thw timing mark, should i advance it? also it was my first time setting the timing so im not poitive its correct. i was told there was a cam in the car, so this could cause the lope, but i dont wanna do a tear down just to see if it has a cam.

The Map sensor is mounted on the firewall behind the upper intake manifold.

Dump the codes BEFORE doing any replacement or repair. You'll save yourself time and money. See my post on page #1 of this thread for the how to dump codes and how to fix idle/stall problems.

Setting the timing:
Paint the mark on the harmonic balancer with paint -choose 10 degrees BTC or 14 degrees BTC or something else if you have NO2 or other power adder. I try to paint TDC red, 10 degrees BTC white and 14 degrees BTC blue.

10 degrees BTC is towards the drivers side marks.

Note: setting the timing beyond the 10 degree mark will give you a little more low speed acceleration. BUT you will need to run 93 octane to avoid pinging and engine damage. Pinging is very hard to hear at full throttle, so it could be present and you would not hear it.

Simplified diagram of what it looks like. Not all the marks are shown for ease of viewing.

ATC ' ' ' ' ' ' ' ' ' '!' ' ' ' ' ' ' ' ' ' BTC
---------------- > Direction of Rotation as viewed standing in front of the engine.

The ' is 2 degrees.
The ! is TDC
The ' is 10 degrees BTC
Set the timing 5 marks BTC. Or if you prefer, 5 marks towards the driver's side to get 10 degrees.

To get 14 degrees, set it 7 marks BTC. Or if you prefer, 7 marks towards the driver's side to get 14 degrees.

The paint marks you make are your friends if you do it correctly. They are much easier to see that the marks machined into the harmonic balancer hub.

At this point hook up all the wires, get out the timing light. Connect timing light up to battery & #1 spark plug. Then start the engine.

Remove the SPOUT connector (do a search if you want a picture of the SPOUT connector) It is the 2 pin rectangular plug on the distributor wiring harness. Only the EFI Mustang engines have a SPOUT. If yours is not EFI, check for a SPOUT: if you don’t find one, skip any instructions regarding the SPOUT
Warning: there are only two places the SPOUT should be when you time the engine. The first place is in your pocket while you are setting the timing and the second is back in the harness when you finish. The little bugger is too easy to lose and too hard to find a replacement.

Start engine, loosen distributor hold down with a 1/2" universal socket. Shine the timing light on the marks and turn the distributor until the mark lines up with the edge of the timing pointer. Tighten down the distributor hold down bolt, Replace the SPOUT connector and you are done.

The HO firing order is 1-3-7-2-6-5-4-8.
Non HO firing order is 1-5-4-2-6-3-7-8

im not sure if its a surge or lope, it idles about 700-800 rpms, and the needle is bouncing as idles slightyt jumping up and down, ive got a multimeter with a tach on it, ill check with that to get exact numbers and how much in rpms the jump is.

As suggested...

You guys with idle/stall problems could save a lot of time chasing your tails if you would go through the Surging Idle Checklist. Over 50 different people contributed information to it. The first two posts have all the fixes, and steps through the how to find and fix your idle problems without spending a lot of time and money. I continue to update it as more people post fixes or ask questions. You can post questions to that sticky and have your name and idle problem recognized. The guys with original problems and fixes get their posts added to the main fix. :D

It's free, I don't get anything for the use of it except knowing I helped a fellow Mustang enthusiast with his car. At last check, it had more than 125,000 hits, which indicates it does help fix idle problems quickly and inexpensively.

im gonna do the idle checklist, ive got so many things to check i need to make a list so i can check them off. its only about 50 rpm bounce nothing maijor but still there i just find it hard to belive it has a cam since it has stock headers valve covers and a few sketchy fixes. it has a cheap cai, offroad h pipe no cats, flowmasters, vacuum pump delete( holes in back of heads are plugged) just dosent seem like the po would spend the money on a cam, even tho he said it had one.

I know a guy that put an f cam in a stock 5.0, it was like a kick to the balls and the engine ran like an asthmatic. If it truly has a cam its going to be a dog.
