Could someone please explain how to remove the bottom right bolt of my shifter? This is the shifter to transmission bolt iirc. I installed the thing and dont remember having this problem but it is tucked under sheetmetal towards the passenger seat.

EDIT: I guess this is a removal...sorry for the incorrect title.

Well that sucks. I'm trying to drop the T5, I should be able to wiggle it through there as it comes down right?
take the handle itself off but leave the shifter it will come out. I have an original auto car so my trans tunnel makes the front two bolts of the shifter hidden for me and i have dropped the trans plenty of times.

Ok, I'm trying to get back at this and I'm coming across a few more issues:

1) I've got the car supported on jack stands. Only 3 are making contact with the car. The driver's rear has a good 1/4 inch left to go before it will sit on the stand. The body is not flexing at all to rest on the last stand. Both rear stands are set to the same height & garage floor is decently level. Why isn't it making contact at all 4 points?

2) My x-pipe will not come out. The x-pipe to header connection on the passenger side is hitting the underside of the car (trans tunnel?). It is a BBX x-pipe supported by hangers near the trans so it needs to slide to the rear a few inches before it will fall out. How can I get the pipe out??

The only thing I can think of is a trans mount like said earlier....but that wouldn't really explain my jack stand issue right?

My car only sits on 3 jack stands, no big deal. We measured the whole car out with a lazer and it's all perfectly square. I scratched my head about it for a while and just don't worry about it any more.

As far as your x pipe go, it sounds like you still have a beat motor mount. Try unbolting the motor mounts and using a block of wood and a jack just ever so slightly pick the engine up. Should give you enough room to wiggle it out.

Yeah I agree on the motor mount theory of its that tight, those hangers on the mid pipe can be a real pain in the a$$.

As long as you know the car is straight don't sweat the jack stand....unless the welded in the subs with the car crooked.
