Engine #51 Cleveland Valve Springs, Can You Id These Springs?

I have a 1973 mustang 351 cleveland 2V motor. It has a 750 4 barrel with a weiand intake and headers and a HEI distributor. I am replacing my cam. I would take suggestions for a cam/kit. I am looking at the

But my heads were rebuilt by the previous owner. I cannot find him to find out what springs he used. Is there anyway to Identify my valve springs? Here are some pics. I need to know if they are good enough to use with a Comp cam like the one in the kit. If so I will just get the cam and lifters. I already have a roller timing chain and sprocket set. And could save the money for the springs and retainers and such. I am open to any suggestions.

I would say that your best bet is just to pull one of the springs off, and take it to a machine shop that does head work. They can tell you
what the coil bind and spring rate is, and if it will meet the needs for your new cam.

Your new kit will come with springs matched to the new cam so the existing springs won't be an issue.

yes it will.. I was just hoping to be able to buy the cam and lifters....but I will go ahead and get the kit I guess....trying to save some $$$

My apologies in advance for posting advice that will cost more money. I recommend you pull the heads and take them to a machine shop complete. It's not just the spring itself that must match the cam, you really also want to make sure they are shimmed correctly. Also, if the heads still have the original 2 piece valves do yourself a big favor and replace them now.

Well you hit the nail on the head..so to speak... I just got my credit card bill where I found out my wifey went on a little spending spree...I now have like $0 to spend on this car for a while..just durn it.
