Lincoln Mark Viii Fan Control Module

Possible? maybe.

Does anyone know how? Prob not. For the cost of that module, and the time and effort needed to research the wiring and programming of the module, it's prob cheaper and easier to purchase an aftermarket fan controller and 75A relay

I guess maybe I have to find a intact wire harness from the module to fan and any where else to see what they're doing. I'm guessing they're tying in to the ect or a feedback signal from the pcm? If true then I need to tee in a ect sensor from a mark viii if it isn't the same one as the mustang? The rest would be stand alone I think.

I was hoping maybe someone has already done it or had experience with it?

IMO, I would spend the extra few dollars and get a tried and true VSC that is new with a warranty and a thousand writeups on how to install. My first choice is the FAL 33054 and then the DCC SP2. Better to spend an extra $50 and know it works than skimping and the car overheat.

I don't mind spending money if its value added. I don't want to go $500 on a set of valve covers or things like that.

My reason for wanting the mark viii stuff was cause its all from Ford and if I need another part its easy to find and quick to change out, plus the Ford stuff seems pretty durable comparatively. It will ease my mind when I'm 60 miles away from anything resembling help. :)

I did find on Lincoln forums that it looks all stand alone except the temperate signal is a data link from the Lincoln PCM. The module ties in to the high side ac pressure so if it goes above a certain pressure the fan stays on regardless of engine temp or whether the ac is in use. Thought was kind of cool. Is data link a v or ma signal?

I found these on another forum. I need to find out what signal is on the data + \ - pins.

The mark 8 fan speed is variable. In fact, the name of the controller (VLCM) means Variable Load Control Module.

I've found this for what it actually controls

Variable Load Control Module
The variable load control module (VLCM) controls:

the cooling fan motor operation and speed.
the A/C clutch operation.
other non-A/C functions.
It also increases and decreases the cooling fan motor speed as necessary, depending on the refrigerant system high-side pressure.
Turns the A/C clutch circuit OFF if the high-side pressure exceeds 2930 kPa (425 psi).

It also gets inputs from the PCM. The more i search, the more i doubt it could be configured as a standalone variable controller.

From the C106 connector picture. Would pin # 23 data -, be the equivalent of pin 17 (pink\lt green) of a 91 - 93 eec-iv? Would pin # 21 data + be the equivalent of pin # 48 (white\pink)?

I imagine the lincoln ect sensor voltage tables will be a little diff than for the mustang.
