What's Hp Do You Have And Whats Your 1/4 Times?

I'm thinking of running my car this Sunday at PBRI. They are having a tribute in memory of Paul Walker. I recently bought my 91 mustang and don't know what the HP is. That's why I'm asking about HP and track times.

Trying to figure out if I'll be in the 13's or not.

What's done to it?

Stock mustang? First time down the track? Don't be surprised if you pull a few 15.1s the first few times with it

It's my first time down the track in this car, but not my first time down the track. I use to run my 2003 modded Mach 1 before this car.

My car has a 5.0 with 5spd

Mods are,

BBK Shorty headers, H-pipe, flow-masters. Edlebrock performer upper and lower intake manifold. Edlebrock 70MM throttle body. 1.72 rocker arms. Stage -2 ported and polished heads, E303 cam, MSD ignition box. BBK adjustable fuel pressure regulator. Motor sport hose kit. Has 5- way adjustable Tokio shocks. K&N cold air intake. 200 amp alt. Nitto drag radials, 3:73 gears, Bama SCT 4-Bank Eliminator Chip, electric fan etc.

I'm hoping i'm in the 13's

What's done to it?

bump up the pressure in your front tires. use a short belt to bypass the smog and a/c. bump the timing to 16. dump a gallon of race fuel in it. Ice down the intake. remove any excess weight. set the shocks to the race setting. Do a quick dry hop to clean off the tires. No need for any burnout on street tires.

Don't worry about setting the world on fire. Do a launch at 1200-1500. The first few times just get used to the track- you'll run 15's.... then after you feel comfortable, work on your launch and shift points. Dont try and speed shift. Keep a log of your launch rpm, shift points, et and speed through the traps.

With some good traction you should be mid 13's.

Most important, be safe and have fun. Been there many many times going back to the old Moroso days when Rob and his parents owned it.

I was at the track last Friday for test an tune night. Just took my son to go watch.

I agree not doing a burnout with regular radials, but with drag radials I would do a small burnout
 
You guys are all wrong. With small slicks you do a burn out until you see smoke for a few seconds. With drag radials, you burn out until you see smoke and then stop. With street tires you spin it out of the puddle just to clean the debris off the tires.

My 555r's like a good burn out, and about 13lbs of pressure. I've heard a lot of guys say the 555r's like higher pressures, but I had no luck with them. They are tons better than a street tire, but don't expect any 3500rpm launches with them. Good luck! Let us know how it goes.

Should run 13's easily. Try launching at around 2-3k like you are taking off from a street light. Don't dump the clutch kinda slip it as you lay into throttle to get the best traction.

This is what I meant, but I do not even go through the water.. Give the radials a couple spins like you said
 
This was not a great run. I ran 20lbs on this launch and had my shock adjustments wrong. You can see that I unloaded the tires a few feet out from the launch, but this gives you an idea of how much smoke I wait to see while doing the burnout. I started in 1st, then went to 2nd. At 4 seconds in 2nd gear, I roll out. This is just the method that I have found works for me, and its what I use. But, I do have a line lock and it makes the 1st to 2nd burnout easier.

Nope. Street tires avoid the box and drive around, back up and do a quick chirp to clean them up. Spinning street tires does nothing but waste tread. Getting them wet and not doing a sufficient burnout to dry them off will result in worse traction off the line. Been racing for 30 years.

No, heads are still on the bench. Haven't had much time lately to polish on them. I did score a N71 cam for $200 the other day. Guy claimed it only had 2000 miles on it. The lobes are super clean and I even got the cam card with it, so I was happy with that. I've asked for head gaskets, intake gaskets, timing cover gaskets and a new timing chain for Christmas. A buddy is already wanting to buy my GT40's from me, so maybe sometime in January I can get around to starting on it.

And the line lock is a lot of fun! Makes doing burnouts around town so much more rewarding!

Just start in 2nd for the burnout.

I've read mixed reviews on this. Some claim it will hurt the clutch. My brother-n-law does it in their race car every time with the Spec Stage 3 and no failure issues. So, I started doing it with my Spec Stage 2, which was a great clutch. It took about ten passes to glaze it over and ruin the clutch. So, I start in 1st again. I think the racing oriented clutches handle it with out issue. Just my experience.

I've been doing my burnouts in 2nd gear for almost two decades now. I've busted plenty of clutches, but I doubt it was from starting in second. I have a solid hub clutch now, so there isn't much that's going to hurt it.

I guess I typed that all wrong. That's not what I meant to say. With street tires drive around the puddle and just get the little bit of water that someone has dragged out. (You're going to get some water on your tires no matter what you do). Quick spin to clean them.
