Aode Trans In A Fox Body?

Couple of things.
AODE was only used in mustangs in 94/95. in 96 the 4r70w replaced it. Regardless, that's an electronic trans and your fox body is set up for an AOD- you will need a stand alone control unit.

You will need the following items:
- AODE or 4R70W transmission with the proper bolt pattern for your engine.
- Baumanator TCS
- Dipstick tube and dipstick from a '94-'95 AODE equipped Mustang (may not clear all headers)
- Backset transmission crossmember
- flexplate from AOD equipped fox body Mustang (imbalance weight must match engine 1968-1980 302 = 28 oz. 1981-2001 = 50 oz.)
- shifter cable from 1994-95 Mustang
- transmission inspection plate and transmission to engine block separator plate from an AOD equipped fox body Mustang
- If the AODE or 4R70W transmission you sourced is from a Mustang it will have the correct shift lever if not, you will need a shift lever from a '94-'04 Mustang application.
Ahem. All the above stuff is incorrect (as long as you don't mind shifting it manually)
Actually, most of the stuff above is correct except the trans controller junk. I personally bought this for my 4R70W:

Different block plate?PFFFT!!
Can you weld? Cut the starter ring, out of your current block plate and move it to accommodate the 164 tooth flex plate.
Use a flexible trans dipstick like a Lokar, and for get about header /exhaust interference.
The reprogram kit requires you to open the trans, and modify the VB, as well as drill the case for an old school vacuum modulator. You will have to always shift the thing after that, and you'll have to wire a pushbutton w/ a microswitch to simultaneously put it in OD, while locking up the converter, but other than those two obstacles, 200.00 is waaaaayyy better than 600.00.
Personally, I would rather shift my auto trans manually anyway, gives my right hand something to do other than flip off people that p iss me off.
