Someone Draw A Line In The Sand For Me

@madmike1157 I looked up the company that you told me about. At first I went into sticker shock, but after reading about what they do, I think the prices are quite reasonable. However, I don't think I'm ready to spend that kind of money on a turbo for the first go-round. Once I get this thing running, and then running safely, I'll upgrade. But I don't wanna splurge and then send pieces of LS through it within the first month. I'd be upset, to say the least.

Honestly, i would save the money for the billet wheel turbo. even in the last year or two companies have brought turbos a long way and power management and spool time may be much better with the more expensive turbo.

You are 100% correct, but as I said, since this will be my first stab at DIY tuning/turboing, I'd be less mad ruining a $650 turbo than a $1600 turbo. I can always upgrade housings and cartridges if I feel the need to make 4 digit power numbers, again assuming the motor makes it that long. I have no idea where my learning curve will go with this, haha.

I doubt you would ruin the turbo, but i see what you are saying. Even a s480 will make silly power. I met a guy at atco that was going 9.0s at over 150 with a bone stock 6.0 long block, truck intake and all, with an s480

Denmah went 9.68 @ 144 with a cam-only 5.3 and an S476r. Maybe I should wait and save, hahaha

yeah except you actually have a real hotside lol. If your doing a 5.3/cam I would do the standard s475 with the 96mm turbine 1.32 housing. Dont worry too much about the spool time, with the right tuning and cam timing it will light off pretty quick. (I havent read your entire build thread, so dont beat on me too hard lol).

6.0 with a good cam. I've been talking indecisively, but what you mentioned is what I need to buy and quit second guessing. And at 639.99 shipped, I can't argue that either.
